How should one look at themselves. When he has to watch people suffer from diseases, poverty, injustice, is one supposed to think that the sufferer is to suffer because they deserve it and I deserve to live a good, comfortable life? Is that what prophets of time did or taught us? If I ignore their pain, then will I not be hold accountable for it?

      Salaam brother,

Please take a look at the following aayat and try to ponder upon the aayaat of Allah then compare it to see what is around you in the world instead of using logic and brains.

      1044
1044 Indeed, Allah does not wrong the people at all, but it is the people who are wronging themselves.

Again I repeat, if you see others you will surely forget yourself.

May Allah increase our knowledge and guide us on His path pr

So, if a patient visits a doctor with a disease should the doctor think the same way? that the person has wronged them self and he has nothing to do? dont get me wrong, I'm just trying to pose some questions that might make us think.

If we see people suffering why shouldnt we think like the doctor, or is it that we have given up that we can end their suffering? What do we do when we see any of our closed ones suffer, do we not try to help them? why should it be different for the whole of mankind?

I thought that is what Prophet Mohammed did in his whole life, helping people out, ending people's sufferings. that's what Moses did when he freed the slave nation from the Pharaoh. How do we disregard what people like Gandhi, Mandella, Mother Teressa did for mankind? Why shouldnt we do the same as Muslims? or isnt that supposed to be our utmost duty?

I think every individual, regardless of his beliefs has a responsibility in helping the world. As per our stance on sola scriptura, we have a task to enlighten others to the true path.

For what am worth, i have tried to reveal the truth through an internet forum as it is easier and safer, but traditional muslims remain a threat even online. I have had my posts deleted, my topics hidden and my account banned on several occasions on this forum. It is pathetic that even with the truth, we are still weak, oppressed and termed as the evil ones. It pathetic that traditional muslims freely preach but for Progressive muslims, it is a No, No.

What is the straight path? Are we ourselves following it so people might listen to us? Previous messengers were rejected by others but they persued and they were successful at the end. Joseph turned out to be one of the most astounding characters in Egyptian history, so was Moses, and Mohammed single-handedly transformed the whole of arab and also resulted in the renaissance around the globe.

Is it enough to preach 'deen'? shouldnt we practice it in order to be able to preach? and if we are truly in the straight path, we should be victorious, not mocked. Yes, messengers used to be mocked, but were victorious at the end too.

Question is, we who understand God's true words should uphold them. I consider this community to be ENLIGHTENED. as they can acknowledge the Quran. They reject blasphemies in the name of God or His apostle.

That is why I posted to ask what people here are doing to make the world a better place, to end the sufferings of mankind. In Quran it says, to every nations there is a messenger sent. We all could be the messengers sent to our community. Messenger who bring glad tidings, who bring changes that are long lasting.

And to harness nature, to talk to its creatures like Solomon did. Know much about its mysteries, how the cavemen mentioned in Quran managed to survive so long in sleep. With all the great discoveries and in true light, maybe one day we shall restore peace on earth. No more poverty, no more injustice, no more sufferings. I know people will still be evil, for if they dont change themselves, God cant help them. But to bring peace is our duty nonetheless.

I dont believe in spending millions on anything that cant end people dying from starving. All welfare should first attempt to end the sufferings and then to magnify human civilization's progress.

Question is what are we doing in THIS cause when we the blessed people have a duty to do so?

Islam is not a "religion", but people speak Islam as a "religion".. and this will bring tension in the society.

Shams jabber, you mentioned about the doctors thinking in the way to cure the diseases of the suffering patients; and it is obvious that the doctors do have and suffer the world of diseases themselves and they are the ones who spread the diseases all over the world. Allah tests all of us with poverty and diseases so that we become humble before the Truthful, that none can physically help another, except to guide them to fear God, while we seek guidance ourselves from the only Helper, the only Protector.

                      That sounds like Buddhism...

                      and the Quran says

Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west

                      but righteousness is

                      one who believes
                      in Allah
                      the Last Day
                      the angels
                      the Book
                      and the prophets

and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to
                      relatives
                      orphans
                      the needy
                      the traveler
                      those who ask , and
                      for freeing slaves;

                      establishes
                      prayer
                      and gives zakah

fulfill their promise when they promise

                      and are patient
                      in poverty
                      and hardship
                      and during battle.

                          Peace with you all sun

in my opinion if we want to help the others then we must not harm the others. Because if you don't harm it's enough. Just don't disturb the other by their way/their life, don't exploit the others in any way. But we also need to help each other, we live here on the Earth together. If we harm or not help each other then we are going to the bottomless pit all together.

                          Think about this things please.

And every soul earns not except against itself, and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you concerning that over which you used to differ."

There are many more aayaat which explains that we should look for ourselves 5105. Start looking at yourself first, then you will not get time to look at others. We are not responsible for others, but they are responsible for themselves. Allah is not going to ask us about them, but we have to give our own account. So, thinking and worrying about others may stop you thinking about yourself.
