Salaamun Alaikum my bro's and Srs group handshake

A kind friend (he is a sunni) sent me a question

Salamu Alaikum brother.Hope you are in good health. Thanks be to Almighty Allah.

Pls may I call your attention to below verse

    Quran
And call to mind when Jesus, son of
Mary, said ?O Children of Israel, I am
Allah's Messenger to you, I verify the
Torah which has come before me,
and I give you the glad tiding of a
Messenger who shall come after me,
    his name being Ahmad.?....
    ............... ............... ...........
Why does the Quran mention here
AHMED and not MUHAMMAD? And how can someone hold the Qur'an as only source of guidance to understand that AHMAD is Muhammad?

I'm an ex Sunni and from hadiths we know that Ahmad = Muhammad. But how can we prove it from the Qur'an?
I've read topics about this verse in the forum, but I think that Ahmad is Muhammad. Any thoughts? What do you think?

    Wassalam
    Ijaz

I think because he came with the Quran, confirming their Books . . . and the Quran also mentioned about Muhammad

Muhammad (&#1612 is not but a messenger.

p.s. The word "Ahmad" is from a conversation and what Jesus refers Muhammad to his people. However, the above ayat is what Allah directly refers as his name, ie. Muhammad.

Just wondering whether it could refer to all messengers when Allah said "but a messenger, like many messengers who have passed before him" ?

And Mohammed is but a messenger, like many messengers who have passed before him.
If he dies or is killed will you turn back on your heels?
And whoever turns back on his heels, he will not harm God in the least.
And God will recompense the thankful.

What is name? What does the Qur'an mean when it speaks about names? We take today by name something fixed and official, but may be the Qur'an takes as something that in itself is a meaning, some kind of description or character.

Also there is a possibility that 3isa is speaking about a future messenger, who will be most praised, who is nto there. When the messenger is already there, he becomes one who has been already most praised, as the form Muhammad is a completed thing, but Ahmad does not give that conclusiveness.

Not to be forgotten also that Muhammad is the khatam a nnabiyin, that is, he is a certification for all prophets, so that when he is Muhammad, all prophets are Muhammad.

            Salaam
