    No longer a Sunna-rejecter

There is nothing wrong with dancing or even "sexual dancing", as long as it's consensual (and wouldnt constitute cheating if married).

Alluring unto man is the enjoyment of worldly desires through women, and children, and heaps of gold and silver, and horses of high mark, and cattle, and lands. All this may be enjoyed in the life of this world - but the most beauteous of all goals is with God. (314)

Say ?Who has forbidden the nice things that God has brought forth for His servants and the good provisions?? Say ?They are meant for those who believe during this worldly life, and they will be exclusive for them on the Day of Resurrection.? It is such that We explain the revelations for those who know. (732)

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

Dancing male and female together was used, may be still it is used in some cirumstances, to harass women under that cover. Of course that is not the fault of dancing but the fault of the dirty designs of some men, who any way would have the same designs and use other venues without the dancing.

If done for the sake of dancing and not with other purposes and there is no discomfort in the sense of fearing to be harassed, dancing is just another form of art entertainment even when there is contact.

I personally do not like it unless I am absolutely comfortable with the partner mentally and physically.

      salaam

I know dancing is not haram as long as it is not sexual. Also what are your views on mix dancing like male and female who are not married or related dance together and they might have to have physical contact. what are your views?

Are we human or are we dancer?

Dancing is ok, except perhaps dancing around while the priest is performing human sacrifice. You shouldn't be dancing you should at least try to stop the atrocity.

            SALAAM to ALL

EX Just put some nice psychadelic goa trance(not techno) , let yoursef flow in a minimalistic form of dance(like tribes do when they use drumtrance )..for body and mind.. it prduces great benefits.

dance and music are very good.. but both need to be educated ,as good manners ,as young as possible.... not talking about lady gaga ,justin beaver , clubs and Ibiza comercial parties,etc... talking about meditation, energies, and upgrading your mind, body and soul..

            Just my own opinion peace

            Salaam

Dancing, just like music is a beatiful realisation of humanity (and not only, animals dance as well!!), it can have all sorts of benefits therapeutic to the mind, boosting self confidence, great excercise, social entertainment, enjoyment of fine art etc etd, I could name more than these.. Thankfully I was born in a culture which doesn't stigmatise music and dancing as it is the case in many muslim countries.

Honestly, I feel that those 'scholars' who prohibited music, mixing of gender (and mixed dancing for that matter) had a huge sickness in their heart and just couldn't handle ambiguity in telling between wrong and right so they had to prohibit anything but brainwash.

I sometimes wonder why on earth they didn't prohibit reading books other than Quran? Most of the books in libraries are 'waste of time' anyway romances, crimes, or just time wasters, they only bring wrong to the society > > > What a hypocrisy not to prohibit books...and photography...and fine arts...and theatre.. and bollywood movies.. everything everything should be prohibited!!! such a waste of time and resources these are!! elektro Let's go back to the caves)

Though I would not directly say that bodily contact in dance with someone of the opposit sex who is not your partner is forbidden, I myself feel uncomfortable with it. I think this is because you never know where it will stop or where it will lead to. I prefer dancing on my own or without body contact or woth a same sex friend.

I love dancing to music. A couple of years ago was the first time I was introduced to combining dance with remembering God (not that anything in life should be separated in our heads, I am just slow learner) I ve been to a few of these dances called dances of Universal peace hosted by the Ruhaniat Sufi Order and they were beautiful experiences of prayer dance. I hope to visit again this October at their fall camp.

maybe you should realize children play and children play.

I believe dancing is like most everything else in Islam, intentions mean everything. Allah knows what you're thinking, so if you're just enjoying music together platonicly, I feel like that's ok.
