When will someone translate 43 correctly, so that it does not mean polygamy. The rest of the Koran does not support this.

"And you will not be able to be fair amongst the women even if you so desire. Therefore, you shall not be too bent, hence you keep it aloft. And if you portray amicability and self-restrain, thus the God is indeed forgiving and compassionate"
        Q 4129

"And when you divorce the women, hence when their time comes, hence persuade them gently, or let them go amicably. And you shall not captivate them to desolation intentionally. And whoever does that, indeed has darkened himself. And you shall not treat the words of the God as games and you shall remember the God's blessings upon you and all that He has given you in the Scripture, and wisdom, and what He has taught you with it, and observe the God, and know that the God is all-knowing"

        Polygamy In The Quran?

In the Arab religion thinking, man is supreme over woman. He is king of the house, king of the jungle, and king on earth ultimately. How they derive to this is anybody's guess. A woman practically has no rights whatsoever to anything, and in fact not even any rights to her own well being.

A woman is nothing more than a servant, to serve man's lusts both, sexually and gastronomically. She is to perform everything at his behest, otherwise she's doomed on earth and the hereafter eternally. This, the Arabs say is the order of the God (at least their god), and marrying more than one up to four simultaneously, is reckoned coming from the Quran in chapter Annisaa (4) verse 3. Thus, polygamy symbolises the male supremacy, and in their delight (the males) they marvel in this way of life and truly believe that the God has favored them over the fairer sex.

Upon studying the relevant verses in the Quran, what is revealed (not surprisingly) is NOT about polygamy, but rather, a guidance pertaining to the care and administration of the orphans and their inheritance, especially focussing on the female orphans. As females have been mistreated along the twisted male chauvinistic belief, a chapter is dedicated to women to bring back the Order (Deen). The corrected translation of the verses are as follows

        1. O people, observe your Lord who created a person. And another he created of his spouse and He expands from both, more males and females. And observe the God who you constantly request to for the family. Indeed, the God, He cares for you.
        2. And hand over the orphans their inheritance, and you shall not exchange the bad for the good, and you shall not deposit their assets into your assets, for indeed that will be a great injustice.
        3. And if you fear that you are unable to mete out justness amongst the orphans, therefore mary them off from you. Of the females pairing in two, and in three, and in four. Hence if you fear about fairness, thus once and for all, your decision. That is to ensure you avoiding any misappropriation.
        4. And hand over the females their inheritance sincerely. Hence, if they are kind towards you, a personal portion from it, thus except it graciously.
        5. And you shall not hand to the immatured the inheritance, which the God entrusted you with. Spend it on them from it, and clothed them, and communicate with them properly. ..

What we see in the above corrected translation, is another corruption done to yet another subject in the Quran that have been mistranslated for their (the conspirators) own gains in producing false religious doctrines. Is there any line describing, or supporting polygamy anywhere there?

Its pertinent to note that all the subjects in the Quran address the people, both man and woman. When a particular subject begins with "Ya aiyuhan nas" (O people) as in the beginning of this chapter, the following "you's" in the chapter in context with the given subject are addressing the plural third-party 'all people - men and women'. So if they insist that this is a subject on polygamy, then it applies to both man and woman, i.e. polygamy is open to all. Now, how would the men like that?

Subjugation is the name of the game. Religion is one of two effective methods (the other is political) to enslave the people by putting fear in the hearts and minds of the people and applying God as the thrump card.

Moses was sent to deliver the Israelites from the Pharoah who held them in religious bondage, and in fact the Pharoah even proclaimed himself god to the people. Jesus was sent to the Israelites for the same purpose to free them from the same religious bondage they were in. What is clear is that the people are either addicted to religious bondage, or they have actually learned to like religion and turned away each time a messenger comes to them.

The Quran's main purpose is to do exactly that, as it acts as the Criterion to discern the truth from false, but the conspirators soon suppressed the truth within by twisting every word contained therein in all available translations. In this case, the Quran specifically in chapter Annisaa, frees woman from her male bondage, which is being perpetuated in their sickened religious teachings. This essay will not delve into linguistic rules, and or semantics, but suffice to expose the conspiratorial nature of mistranslations, which perhaps would invoke the interest and desire in people to find out the truth when they find anything that seems amissed, and to verify everything they hear, or read for themselves...yes, only for oneself.
        Polygamy

Men will be men, so they say. Its nothing unusual for a man to be chasing women, as in fact its a natural animalistic instinct for them to do so, and I think women find that rather amusing. However, no person (man or woman) likes the idea of sharing a beloved one with another, because it is totally unnatural and unacceptable to our basic instincts. To the Romeos, Valentinos, and playboys of the earth, conduct yourselves properly and gentlemanly, and above all...maintain responsibility.
        Polygamy

However socially unacceptable the idea of polygamy is, its perpetration is rampant and is being practised everywhere and all over the world by every race through the ages, and its simply a social disorder which needs to be corrected through thorough proper education.

Equality between man and woman is a missing feature in every religion, and in the game of subjugation, females (constitutes about half the numbers in a given society) who are easy preys are unawaringly and automatically subjugated, and made the game pretty much easier for the conspirators.

All said, women themselves should buck up and stand up for their rights. Those who find themselves entrapped in this predicament, have only themselves to blame. The maxim "It takes two to tango" is very apt, and for many of them they walked through it with their eyes open, and only when it falls apart that they see the light, which by then is often too late.

Polygamy is a dirty word. It should not be condoned in any way. It is a violation of the natural social order and it does more harm than good to be of any good to society. One should not be swayed by justifications by people who promote it. It's fine to do anything one finds fanciful, and then finds another who agrees to participate, and then one be responsible for it. One does not need justifications, it could be out of lust, fun, or whatever as long as it is one's choice. But its not acceptable when one impose it on others, especially on religious grounds, when its not.

What the Arab religion advocates is totally reprihensible, and to say it is done in the name of God... is evil indeed.

The translation of 4;3 by Aidid Safar, makes sense and fits in with what the rest of the Koran says about man/woman relationships. It also fits in with what is being talked about here, the orphans.

I'm still confused by the rules of polygamy in the Qur'an. It still puzzled for me...

I think I better to avoid studying polygamy at this time, to avoid stress that probably come up if I study it deeper...

However, my advice for any single/unmarried brother who has intention to practice polygamy in the future

Please tell to the first woman who you're going to marry that you are the type of man who want to practice polygamy.

Don't cheat your fianc?e/prospective wife/potential wife by hiding your polygamy intention.

I think that you should tell her that there is probability you're going to marry another woman/women after she become your wife.

If you tell her about it, then your prospective 1st wife can prepare herself and she'll have choice whether she still want to marry you or not.

If you tell her about this before married, then I hope it will save her from the big shock which probably occur if you tell her after both of you married.

I think it'll be quite fair if a single/unmarried man who wants polygamy chooses to marry single/unmarried woman who also okay/doesn't mind/agree if someday her future husband want to have more wife/wives.

            Thanks.

            Peace.

And if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you of women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then one or those your right hand possesses. That is more suitable that you may not incline.

Condition set here in this aayat is 'if you fear that you will not be just ' then only ONE is allowed.

And you will never be able to be just between women, even if you should strive. So do not incline completely and leave another hanging. And if you amend and fear Allah - then indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.

Here it is clearly mentioned that you NOT ABLE to be just between women, even if you strive.

This is Allah judgement that you not able to be just, then there is no way of thinking about polygamy.

MMkhan. This verse is about the orphans. The grammar refers to the all encompassing you, ie, male and female. This suggests then, that polygyny is also allowed. Do you agree with this? Men and women can marry up to four partners each? If you use your intelligence, men marrying more than one woman does not fit with the rest of the Koran.

Bold I wish more and more men can think that way.

Unfortunately, polygamous men usually feel sure and confident that they are capable for polygamy.

I suppose it is what apparently often happen for this case, because there are men who look confident to practice polygamy, especially when they feel capable economically to have many wives, it seems that wealth is normally used as criterion of men's ability for practicing polygamy.

It's very clear that God commands men to get married with one woman. It's repeatingly said in different parts of Quran that only Allah is Just and Fair. As human beings, none of us can be just. We must obey God's commandments but what human beings do is to interpret verses in accordance with their traditions. We must get rid of all traditional perversions. I met several Sunni/Shia Muslim who have more than one wife and all of them tried to justify their polygamy saying "We just follow the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad." I didn't meet any men who want to get married with a widow in her 50s or 60s in order to protect her! They always want to marry young virgins. Is this Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad?

May the peace, mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you.

                        Salaam,

Sorry, if I am not clear in my previous post.
The aayat 4129 clearly says that you are NOT ABLE to be JUST with women.

Lets say for example, if a man has two wives . He decided to get both of them dresses worth Rs.1000 each. When they go for shopping, one wife found a dress worth Rs.1000 and she liked it much and decided to buy that. The other wife decided to buy two instead of one, each cost Rs.500.

What do you think the husband is just between his two wives? I don't think so.
Because one wife got only one dress and another got two. Money wise it is ok, but from other aspect, it is not.
One like to buy a silk dress and another like to buy cotton, etc. Somehow, you are NOT ABLE to be JUST with them.
Even if we don't take these examples, when Allah said you are able to be just, means no other option left.

So, as per 43 if you fear that you will not be just with them, then the only option left is ONE.
This is how I understood it. Hope this is clear now, inshaAllah.

But the wife buying two was smarter, taking that the cheaper dresses hold the same quality. The other bought something likely because of the brand or something.

4.124 is not about multiple wives. It is speaking about divorce, its possibility and its actuality, the women are not wives, may be one still is, but others are prospective. It speaks of women not of wives. Amnd it is obvious that when one is trying to get out of a marriage and wanting to marry other person, justice is not going to be easy for him, because his interest is simply on the woman he covets and not on the woman he is leaving. Ant that is what the Qur'an is dealing with.

It is the permanent obssession with poligamy for the males that transofrms any innocent remark in an indication of poligamy. It is absurd.

The Qur'an is plain, it says marry the single to both sexes. The one circumstance where poligamy, either feminine or msculine would be appropriate would be when one sex greatly outnumbered the other, and that is why the Qur'an instead of prohibiting poligamy, either feminine or masculine, it instructs us to marry the single. Plain. No woman is endorsed by the Qur'an if she marries a man already married, unless the shortage of males was really threatening.

Of course, this is like prostitution where one sex is poor and cannot feed her own children women resort to prostitution, and that is what society is called to remedy. Put the women in the houses and sustain them and their children, at least while they do not have any other source of income.

Poligamy because of vital needs, is nothing but a disguise of prostitution and in fact the limits as we see can be blurry.

                              Salaam

4.124 is not about multiple wives. It is speaking about divorce, its possibility and its actuality, the women are not wives, may be one still is, but others are prospective. It speaks of women not of wives. Amnd it is obvious that when one is trying to get out of a marriage and wanting to marry other person, justice is not going to be easy for him, because his interest is simply on the woman he covets and not on the woman he is leaving. Ant that is what the Qur'an is dealing with.

                                Salaam,

I respect your views but cannot agree with them.
I do not understand how you relate 4129 with divorce? Can you please clarify it.
4129 used the word Nisa i.e., women but 43 also used the same word.

                                  4.129

Take the rrouble to read the aya preeding it and those following.

The word used in the Qur'an for spouses is azwaj, no An-Nisaa". Nisaa' are women, not spousesAnd is those ayas there is no questi?n of anybody having more than one spouse, but of having divergencies a wife and a husband and then of divorce. YOU introduce the poligamy into the affair. It is not there. There are women. Just like in 2.228 there on the one hand husbands and on the other hand men. Not husbands and husbands.

As to 4.3 where do you see the simultaneous wives of an only husband there? And how can you uphold that one man is marrying up to four because God says so, and then pretend that God expresses the imposibility of justice between the women as a proof that poligamy is wrong?

Neither in 4.3 nor in 4.129 poligamy is alluded. Least of all marriage of one with three at a time. How do you manage that. Five marry together? two and a half of them are the husband and two and a half of them are the wife? That cannot be done and the fact that it is phantastic is born out even by traditional jurisprudence itself which permitted poligmy but not a single marriage with more than one wife. Marriages, if at all, were to be consecutive not simultaneous. I suppose that for the wedding night or equivalent they should follow some order or what? The qur'an does not give it. None of the upholders of the 4.3=poligamy has thought of the ensuing mess for the contracting ladies and gentlement after such a fivepartite marriage?

4.3 is about marrying at any given time as many as possible of the women with orphan children with the men willing and abvailable for it, not about giving a womens lot away to any man in particular. It does not say two, three or four women, but marry two or three or four of one go, but no to a single man, not at all, where do you see that those twsomes, threesomes or foursomes, are to be to a single man when in fact the aya is addressed to the people in general and all the men of the people are included in the call. It is telling the community to arrange for those marriages and lend them all the support possible for their success, not calling to any man to a prowess of male whatever.

On the other hand, if the need is so acute, why stop at four? Of course there is no stop at four, it says two, three or any number that you are able to arrange, and in fact that if you cannot do much but you can one, do that one. It is not putting a cap to the number of protected marriages, but just setting a patter that you may arrange as many as you can, not that four is the top. Why there should be such a top to something that is considered socially beneficial or necessary?

Again, the attachment to "islam provides for poligamy" emotional setup colours everything in the minds of the "muslims". But the Qur'an itself could not care less about poligamy, it is there it deals with it, but it is not tending it as a pet. Just as it does not tend as a pet the value of "virginity". It could ot care less.

But we have learnt to have a soft heart for those things and we seem to loose the ground underneath when we are deprived of those props.

                                  Salaam
