    Salam

I do not think that one is expected to blindly accept others interpretation of the appropriate way to practice the teachings of Islam. Or that one would be expected, in their infancy stages of learning, to following all of the rules from the very beginning. It would be like expecting a child to run before they can crawl.

I believe that Islam is a journey in developing a closeness with God and that one must first understand in order to effectively practice.

I agree here absolutely with Searching 4 God.

Fortunately I found my way to God and Islam, which is firm and solid. Thanks to God and this Site I stopped floating around between the traditionalists with their perception of a too strict haram/halal Islam, which confused me and removed me again from my path, and the disbelievers who don't care about God and the Islam.

Islam means to me a deep respect and gratefulness to our Creator, which I express in my daily prayers (let it be contact prayers as well as Du'as). Being good and respectful to people AND animals and the nature, the creation of God. Being aware of what is happening around me and try to make this world a better place in being absolvent and teaching my kids this values. I read the Quran and try to understand it. I try to uphold Gods commands. Although I don't agree with everything, this Site helps me lot in my efforts.
This is why it is so worthy to me and I find the members of FM in their efforts to understand the dunja very sympathetic.

My faith means my backbone for which I am very thankful that I can feel it. On the other hand I'm not at all a missionary, I don't see my salvation in talking endlessly about my faith to disbelievers.

I still have a lot to learn and sometimes I even think that my little head is just too small to understand all of it. Then I just leave it - hoping that I will understand another time or accepting that there are thousands of things I am just unable to understand. (I hope we once will get an answer to it all) I try to be patient with everything and everybody which is a big task in our life and hard to reach.

    Salaams
