Sunni, Shiite, Alawi..etc... OR Muslim?

Salam Everybody.
I was born as a sunni. But since I was 16 I dissociated myself from Shafii and did not think that any of the followers of the 4 imams knows really what the difference is.
I consider myself a muslim only. Not sunni or shiite and I thought that everybody here have the same attitude.
I am noticing some guys insulting sunnis and others insulting shiites.
I believe, If we are committed to God alone then we are essentially MUSLIMS ONLY.
It does not play well to say that "I am a god alone muslim" then say " I am a sunni or shiite" -

Those who are mumins, and those who are Jews, and those who are christians and the sabians,- any who is a believer in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.Allah labels all the categories as self proclaimed in the above verse. May Allah judge us. Amongst the 4 groups mentioned above, only Allah knows who believes in HIM and The last Day and who does Righteousness. So we hope to be adjudged by the Almighty, the Wise-, who amnog us are muslims to be chosen as "muslims" from the above categories. We fear for HIM.

peaceI did understand your point, Sword, and I asked why is the label? I meant including the label 'Muslim'! Does a 'Muslim' label prove anything?
I don't feel good about labeling. We use them to hide behind them, like a shield! To group with others who are 'like us' to form a wall against those whom we (already) judge as different, as LESS! I see a label, by itself, as a maneuver! The one who is labeling himself (with the best of labels to him) is actually judging others indirectly!

Habibi Mahdi. Unfortuantely could not find those threads again.
But it is like "stupid sunni" and other things.
I dont have a label but I am disturbed. I dont know why. Maybe just becuase I dont like to see such things. It reminds me of many racial stuff against indians and iranians in the Gulf.

Before you close this thread, let me just applaud your sensitivity and concern towards fellow humans. Such stuff does hurt. You can?t just see somebody being ridiculed and just stand there watching and doing nothing x Sometimes I would wish I were deaf so as not to hear some racial or sect-related comments, in jokes and talks! But they are everywhere, in all communities, I believe. Don't you think?
