I have noticed many Sufi Muslims, and even non-Sufi Muslims like Sunnis and Shia, are starting to make Dhikr to our beloved Prophets of God. It is a form of meditation and is growing steadily popular.

The idea behind the practice is simple and goes like this

You need to have a mat, you can use your prayer mat, if you need a pillow for your head, you are allowed to do that.

You need to lie down, your back to the ground, and then close your eyes - you must use scent. And if you have a vacuum cleaner or hair dryer, it is recommended to turn it on and listen to the noise - it will help your concentrate better at your meditation and Dhikr to our prophets, peace be upon them.

You need to cover yourself with a blanket, only your feet, not your body. And then, when you listening to the noise, try to remove all memories in your mind, to not think of anything else but your Dhikr to the prophets.

And then you say this I will show you an audio from the many Muslims doing this http//vocaroo.com/i/s0L7ye2RPV69

The Dhikr takes 2 hours and is very popular.

AQ; 5727 - We sent other messengers to follow in their footsteps. After those We sent Jesus, son of Mary We gave him the gospel and put compassion and mercy into the hearts of his followers. BUT MONASTICISM WAS SOMETHING THEY INVENTED - WE DID NOT ORDAIN IT FOR THEM - EXCEPT TO SEEK ALLAH's pleasure, and even so, they did not observe it properly. So We gave a reward to those of them who believed, but many of them were lawbreakers.

Invented by the Nasara not approved by the ALMIGHTY

          The verse 5727 says,

Monasticism (or living unmarried) is not a natural practice, but its innovated by those who practiced it seeking Allah's approval(getting his benefits), but some of them also not observed it with due observance...

but here does Allah expects them to follow properly, is their a proper way of monasticism then?

By the way whats the topic at hand and the relation with monasticism?

          MOF,
I agree, it will be scented comedy to see someone doing that )

I agree with amin's interpretation of the passage in question more. Monasticism is not wrong if you really use it for what it is intended for. It is the ultimate choice if one can put restraints on their instincts and the worldly life. It is also possible to get married, but keep away from the world still although that takes a spouse not ruining your plans. It is arguable whether Jesus/Isa/Jesu was not monastic.

But these people are supposed to be among the most humble people there is. They would never brag about their abstention or they would break their monastic vow. And being a monk or nun does not mean one has to live under dreadful conditions but they only fast from the world. They would be able to laugh and enjoy spiritually. There are also myths and exaggeration which has been followed by those who adhered to monasticism.

            Salaam

By the way whats the topic at hand and the relation with monasticism?

Thank you for the highlights. To be precise it is 0931, not 5727, the concept of tawassul which sufism practiced is a Christian concept,

John 1406 - Jesus answered, ?I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

After analyzing the 5727, I find that the translation is out of context. It should be

Then We sent following their footsteps Our messengers and We followed with Esaias, the son of Mary, and We gave him the lnjeel. And We made in the hearts of those who followed him compassion and mercy and monastic state. They instituted what We prescribe it for them only seeking the pleasure of Allah. But they did not observe it with due observance. So We gave the ones who believed among them their reward, but many of them are defiantly disobedient.
