Please, I need references about "darood" and right feet position
-
Salam alaikum,
I'm a new muslim and now I'm trying to learn salat. I know you are write a lot of this topic in the forum, but please if someone can help me with two specific questions, i'll be thankful...
Those questions are not just about "conception" of Islam, but practical too. Because I'm almost old age and the sitting position "yulus" cause me pain in my knees when I stand and to recite tashahud, greeting and Darud. Nor I can't put my feet back on the right position. So I just sit resting on my legs (sitting on my heels but without seeking the special position of the right foot legs).
Then
-
Darud is really obligatory or it is not?. Because if is not, so It can be done breaking the yulus posture. For example doing tashahud and greeting and then, sitting up but stretching the legs, do the Darud.
-
The position of the right foot in the sitting position "yulus" can change slightly in order not to make the salat in torture.
I want clarify that I do not share the extreme legalism on islam, but neither agree with who put all things in his individual preference. I'm looking for a balance. But I need references, examples, and criteria because I'm new in this world.
Can you help me about that? Thanks.
The best for you

Peace and Welcome @akbar007!
There is no such a thing as "durood" in the Qurn.
& the (non-qurnic) tradition of namaz was originally borrowed from Mazdaism; then attributed to the Messenger of G-D and foisted upon the Qurn (through misinterpretation) ...
I know this won't make much sense to you (right now), but
you'll have to loose it all for the sake of G-D ...~ Approach G-D with a 'sound mind' .

Thank you for say "welcome" (good point when one is new) and for your answer. I've to think about that, but for a moment I understand that the darood tradition, according you, is not coranic. So should be optional not compulsory.
And the position of the right foot? I guess is the same thing... So, for a moment I'll try to do my best but without pain. Because I think "jihad" against our "ego" is not the same that torture our bodies and minds.

I understand that the darood tradition, according you, is not coranic.
So should be optional not compulsory.Personally, I only invoke my Master's Excellent/Virtuous Attributes/Epithets .
To me, there's just no longer any room for Mhmd (or anyone else) in my "credo" since, this is what I can (confidently) testify to. There is no Divinity but The Divine (One). And the position of the right foot? I guess is the same thing...
Sir, I mean no disrespect but, do you sincerly believe that 'The Supreme Assigner' would actually care any less about "the position of your right foot" !?
Matter of fact is, G-D never asked such a ritual/task from you in the first place!
So, plz stop serving others beside G-D .I'm almost old age and the sitting position "yulus" cause me pain in my knees when I stand and to recite tashahud, greeting and Darud. Nor I can't put my feet back on the right position. So I just sit resting on my legs (sitting on my heels but without seeking the special position of the right foot legs).
So, for a moment I'll try to do my best but without pain ...
Before performing any "religious ritual"
I recommend you study the Qurn alone first ,
then 'act/perform your duties with a firmer conviction, a fuller understanding & broader range of knowledgeREMEMBER
In the Qurn, G-D teachs us to
Dispel Negativities (Vices) with Positivities (Virtues) ...~ I suggest you start with Impartiality

Well, thanks again for your interest. But, my question was about the compulsory or optional way on those issues. Not for to ask guide about my inner faith... Anyway, since we are talking, let me say that I agree with you in one thing but not in others.
I agree that the feet positions probably is irrelevant if one are sincerely focus in God.
I don't agree about your speech about Prophet (saws) and the Quran teachings on this point
God and His angels bless the Prophet
so, you who believe, bless him too and give him greetings of peace. (3356)By the way, ask for blessing to someone is not the same that make a worship. For me there isn't contradiction between daroo / tashahud and "la illaha illa Allah". But I'm not the owner of the true of course. I just think this...

Salam akbar
I would suggest you not to allow enthusiasm about ritual forms and format overwhelm you. All rituals are means to an end - to have faith and to act righteously. If a particular physical posture is difficult for you please feel free to find your own comfortable posture - the posture will never reach God - what will reach God is our consciousness (taqwa).
The most obvious benefit of following a routine ritual is that you can perform worship in a community. I am all supportive of being community oriented as long as the worship is solely dedicated to Allah. So, I welcome you to explore with your community about ritual forms. In sha Allah you will find even the most traditional societies accomodating and respecting flexibility if you highlight your physical constraints.
May Allah guide us all to the straight route.

Peace akbar.
When GOD sends a "Nabi/Rasool", He(No gender intended for -GOD-) sends one who is living, eating /drinking/going to the market/communicating with the people... When the first "Nabi/Rasool" departed from this life ,GOD sent a second "Nabi/Rasool" that was alive and so on...
When GOD addresses His "Nabi/Rasool" ,He is not addressing a departed soul or is He? Hence "Wussalloona ala Nabi" was done when Nabi was alive. 3356 applied at the time the Nabi was doing a duty. Now the Nabi has departed this life, how can that possibly apply?
Let us think for a moment, how can us humans send "blessings" that will reach a departed soul, even if we wanted to?
Also , the expression "Salla Allaho Alaihi wa sallam" has no meaning whatsoever now the "Nabi" is gone!!!! GOD has done so when the Nabi was alive( GOD and His Angels have supported the Nabi, the believers were also asked to support the Nabi, when he was on duty!!!!!).
Now, we can parrot the expression all our life and it has no meaning. Useless words and cries that serve no purpose. The Nabi is no longer with us, and cannot hear , answer us or need our blessings. The Nabi has done his duty and departed , the message that he delivered is alive and warns us against "idolising any Nabi".
I hope this makes sense brother.
If not ,you are free to to believe/do as you choose. Also brother, GOD has made his system easy. If you physically cannot do something, GOD understands. HE is forgiver most Merciful.
What is not acceptable to GOD is "Shirk" and thinking we can "fool Him" .
GOD bless you.
Peace. -
I understood. Thank to all of you for your answers and "welcomes". For the moment (this my conclusion for now) I'll keep doing salat without special position in the feet, and breaking the sit position and stretching legs before do darood.
Whatever the outcome is good to talk about all this "compulsory" issues in a free way. Was nice. Thank you, really.
About "ritual"... well, is something for talk a long time... because I think is not just an outward shape... I think the shape has a correspondence with inner (and spiritual) realities. But I don't want talk about that now, I got an answer about my doubts (daroo and feet) and this is OK for today.

Salam brother.
I think you have a very valid point there. Yes I agree with you 100% that physical postures do help shape mental state. But still then it is a means to an end, not the end in itself.
From your discourse you sound like a person with thorough understanding. I wish you sucess in your pursuit.
May Allah guide us all to the staright route.
