Two issues I would like to bring up. First, I find it really annoying men/women who convert solely for the sake of marrying their Muslim lovers. For example, a typical scenario Hindu girl converts to Islam to marry her Muslim boyfriend. Girl grew up worshipping Hindu deities. Hindu girl converts without any hesitation - doesn't even know much of what Islam is about. Didn't really care who Allah was.. just cared about being with her boyfriend. Girl and guy get married. Guy's family is more or less satisfied with conversion.

The Quraan says not to marry an unbeliever for men and women alike. From my perspective, she entered the marriage as an unbeliever. Would it be bold to say this marriage is actually unlawful/invalid in God's eyes?

Next, what does the Qur'aan say about how a Muslim man and woman should get married?

      Peace be upon you,

The first error is in the LABELING of a person as being "MUSLIM". That word is NOT a title, only a description. You can have ANY title, "Hindu", "Jew", "Christian" or whatever, and still be described as one who peacefully submits(muslim).

Regarding marriage, you should choose a mate, not based on thier "Title" but on thier faith and actions. Do they trust that all of thier causes will lead to effects? Do they , after knowing this, choose to do right so that thier effect will come back positive? Do they see the interconnection between ALL THINGS(Oneness)?

if they don't see these things, they are mislead and will call you to the fire, even if they call themselves by the TITLE "MUSLIM".

        Idolfree,

completely agree with your post !

Please Khadija1, also see the thread "what does a muslim wedding look like". there also, idolfrees message is short but essential )

To my understanding though, concerning dr fazl thread in the above thread I dont think dowry is obligatory as it can be forfeited by the wife to be.

        Salam, Elke
