What is Al-Kauthar?
-
Modern arabic has little in common with quranic arabic. Many of the words in modern arab semantics are proof of the huge impact these hadith had on the entire arab culture. Besides this, it is clearly a proper name.
I was never exposed to any hadith or indoctrination. When I try to identify words in Quran, I use arab lexicons but ALWAYS check the etymology which often leads me to aramaic. But this is besides the point. k-th-r's etymology is aramaic. Used as a proper name in Quran.

In your zeal of proving others wrong you just start nit picking. It is not "noun of Inna", its Inna's noun. I am sure you know this much from rest of the explanation. You just can't accept that your held beliefs could be wrong.
Sorry I missed your previous post about agreeing. Let us not worry for a moment about technical syntactical lebelling of the sentence.
Please show me based upon root and measure/weight/wazan. How traditionalist are justified in its contruct that they claim it to be as a definite noun?

I think your translation of abundance is alright by itself. Whether you identify Al-Kauthar as the canaanite Kothar-wa-Khasis or as abundance, the meaning hardly changes. We live in abundance today because of those early technological skills such as medicine, construction, metallurgy etc. The origins of those skills bringing abundance were once attributed to a specific god in the canaanite mythological pantheon, who was in turn deified.
Meanwhile bkanwar2 is still blindly trying to pull the quranic arabic word apart and trying to find meaning. This while he is looking at a linguistically proven borrowed word.

There is some persistent folklore about Khidr among Arabs, my mother for instance believed he is still alive and roaming the Earth.
Some believe he is an Angel, not human... etc.
I know of mythological names who then got co-opted as day to day words, so after all you might be right, but I still believe that for our purpose, it means abundance, otherwise Allah would have been more specific.
I am very weary about mythologies, as they are associated deeply with idolatry.

Aye! This is why the verse in Quran is still very relevant. I am aware of this superstitious belief about al kihdr. Since Quran mentions him, I think he was a real person. A person from flesh and blood though (human/given by Allah), surrounded by much mystery.
I disagree Quran would need to be more specific for it to be a personal name. The personal name is mentioned explicitly. One should ponder whether mystery figures in Quran which don't reveal much more specifics are not placed in it as a catalyst to distinct the idolaters from those who submit. It's not the only personal name inside Quran with little more details. I think Quran achieves its goal as a catalyst in this sense perfectly/superefficient. I do understand your point of view but I think if you do some minor research on the true historical evidence of Kothar, removed from the folklore, it will shed much light on a form of idolatry that is timeless.

I forgot another plausible thesis I know of. This one interpretes Al-Kauthar as a placename, specifically Caphtor. As such it relates back to the story of Musa and is referring to him being given this land.
See Amos 97, Deut 223

Dude, I have enough on my plate, it has never been an issue for me to worship other than Allah, especially deities I never heard of until you mention them, so I am happy to settle with abundance...
Allat Mannat and Uzzah were clearly mentioned for the contemporary Arabs though, so I am aware of that part, enough for me

These angels are nothing but uncontrolled forces of nature, people respected those, some idolized them. I think here the word refers to abundance in wealth.
Knowledge, strength, wealth, good luck, smaller difficulties, larger destruction etc...
our ancients had better idea about these and gave names to these, with time these lost meanings and these become mythological stories and characters. -

I think you are referring to Alkhidr character, yes thats one character with exceptional wisdom, Musa was able to learn from him that what we think happenned was bad need not be really bad.

It's interesting you identify alkhidr as malaika.

Man either this almighty and his prophet had no clue or they were really were out there to get innocent people; by giving them a document which has no term that was understood at the time it was supposedly revealed. What to talk 1000 years later?
Wow believers of this joke, your minds are really enslaved? How can you break these chains when very apparatus given to you to break these chains is enslaved?

BK Anwar
You first stated a stupid thing with regard to predicate of Inna. I told you it was not predicate of Inna but the object of verb. Accept your stupidies and then proceed, other wise you just waste time. You have after a long time come to normal course of understanding a text, grammar and syntax. But have not yet lieft the habit of getting occassionally mindless.

I tend to agree with you, though Angels are separate beings like the Jinns, better, it is an article of Faith to believe in the existence of Angels.

I was thinking more of the instances like Ibrahim's encounter with the visitors who came to inform him of his child, who then went to Lot, and the messenger who came to Mary.
1917
So she took a veil (to screen herself) from them; then We sent to her Our spirit, and there appeared to her a well-made man.1169
There came Our messengers to Abraham with glad tidings. They said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" and hastened to entertain them with a roasted calf.1170
When he saw their hands did not reach out towards it, he felt uneasy with them and started to be afraid of them. They said "Do not act afraid; we have been sent to Lot?s folk."1171
And his wife was standing (there), and she laughed But we gave her glad tidings of Isaac, and after him, of Jacob.1172
She said Woe to me! Will I give birth when I am an old woman and this, my husband, is an old man? Truly, this is a strange thing!1173
They said Do you wonder at Allah's bidding? The mercy of Allah and His blessings are on you, O people of the house, surely He is Praised, Glorious.69
And (even] if We had appointed an angel as Our message-bearer, We would certainly have made him a man - and thus We would only have confused them in the same way as they are now confusing themselves.351
Praise be to Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, Who appointeth the angels messengers having wings(arms) two, three and four. He multiplieth in creation what He will. Lo! Allah is Able to do all things.352
What Allah out of his Mercy doth bestow on mankind there is none can withhold what He doth withhold, there is none can grant, apart from Him and He is the Exalted in Power, full of Wisdom. So I don't know, they seem to not be natural forces, but natural forces seem to be natural forces, and angels seem to be something else. If the natural forces are transformed into human forms, what happens then to the natural forces during that period? Its almost similar to how people say Jesus is God, then people ask, when Jesus was being Jesus, what was the operation of God.
The angels appear to be messengers of God who can be given various forms, their creation added to or changed, who are called "spirits" (rooh) and one of them is called the "Holy spirit", but they can be given physical forms and can also physically harm and attack people or visually appear to them
