As far as the issue of marijuana is concerned, I agree with some of the posters in that, the things that have been forbidden by THE maker of ALL the RULES are spelled out plainly and that makes EVERYTHING else PERMISSIBLE! Regardless of how one FEELS about the subject, NONE can make HARAM what THE rule maker does NOT!!! Did THE creator NOT also create THIS plant? Is THE creator in the habit of creating that which has NO purpose in HIS creation? FOR ME, the Qur'an is MY guide and I have NEVER read in IT, "and the marijuana plant is HARAM for you!!! DO NOT consume or come near this plant"!!! THEY follow naught but conjecture and the traditions of MEN!!! NOT I!!!

Irrelevant. That has to do with general human psychology, and has nothing to do with the topic at hand.
I think precedents do give us a better understanding of what's written in the quran. True and tested ideologies give us an idea of what happens when we actually go against what's written in the quran.
However, I'll state here that I am in favour of legalizing all drugs. Alcohol is the most harmful of them anyway.

You basically just legalized the drug cartels. They'll turn into private corporations and will now be able to take monopoly of the market, like the alcohol cartels in canada did. You haven't fixed the problem, because the culture in america is one where consumption of drugs is encouraged, romanticized, and even sometimes forced, through social coercion. I've been subject to such pressure myself.
Instead of stomping out the cartels you've legalized their income. They already have money, lawyers, armaments, and in the end they would even be able to create a private military company like black water, and now have a legal army.What people in favour of legalization of drugs do not understand is that once the drug is legalized, you give the full rights of mega corporations to take over all of it, bombard people with advertisement, and legally get people hooked up on substances that can easily kill. Giving that power to corporations is irresponsible. Cartels will be able to move on to other illegal businesses with the newly acquired legal status. We can't rely on estimates when taking decisions that will shape a society forever. Good thing america is willing to put itself on the line though, legalizing everything, having moral relativism rampant everywhere, and bathing kids into this slut and drugs culture from a very young age.

It would also decrease the price of drugs, so addicts won't have to commit such crimes to collect funds to support their addiction.
And kids, under the influence of pop music and social pressure, will also be able to indulge in it from a very young age. If you think you can control your kids 24/24, you're wrong. One just has to look at the slut culture being propagated by pop music today. Kids practice twerking in the privacy of their room, filming themselves and putting the videos on youtube. One might say "why would you search such videos on youtube!" to which i would respond "why are we subjecting kids to awful pop music". There already have been research done on the effect of sexually suggestive and degrading music on people.

Many points here to look at.
Ok let's begin with dutch vs america. America has a big pop music industry. Bigger than the dutch one. Dutch people don't necessarily all understand english from a young age. Dutch kids are not subject to suggestive music at the rate american kids are. Dutch kids do not listen to gansta nigga rap where the cool thing to do is do all kinds of drugs and become a real nigga, or something.
Kids are not encouraged to partake in such activities from a young age in dutchland. In americaland they are.
Addicts, by definition, aren't functional members of society. You look at cigarette and alcohol addicts, they die younger, at a faster rate than others. They develop health issues as they grow older. They can't function as well as people with a sane health. They have to take medicine that others do not.
That's just for cigarettes and alcohol. Harder drugs are even worse.People keep using drugs because we tell them that drugs are cool to use. That really is the bottom line of it.
