a few questions about heaven pls help
-
Salaam Elke,
I must admit, the one word I used might not have been appropriate.
But unfortunately many people believe heaven to be that way and specially in the arab world. And I know, I live here and I talk to people...The more appealing the Reward, the harder the men would work for it!
If the Reward were to be women-lacking, how many men will you see striving for Jannah?About the German professor, I did hear about him and also about his grapes theory, but I am not surprised. These things just come and go like the waves of the sea but the ocean remains!

Peace all,
Who goes to hell and who goes to heaven is in God's Hands. Abraham loved his father but God made it very clear to Abraham that he should NOT appeal to God on behalf of his father because he was an idol worshipper. I don't know where his father is, but I think its a safe guess to say his father belongs with the rest of the idol worshippers.
As for the virgins of paradise, that's something I myself need to understand upon.
Taj, if the Quran says the men would be married to these virgins and you admit this
The more appealing the Reward, the harder the men would work for it!
If the Reward were to be women-lacking, how many men will you see striving for Jannah? Then, how does this fit in?
And what is wrong with having company? It doesn't have to be sexual you know.
I don't understand as to why God had to give sexual references to men alone to appeal to the believers. Besides there's another verse that says you'll enter paradise with the rigteous among your spouses, parents, children...then if that's the case, you are entering paradise with your spouses, then why do you want virgins on the side?
-
Salaam,
And if it was - what would be there for us girls ??? oops
Joe would be there for the women. I'll be the little man whore. lol
Regarding the hurun though
In the quran the word hoor (hurun is the plural form of this word) is often mistakengly interpreted as chaste virgins in heaven for dead martyrs, etc. The root for hoor is Hara.
Hara (H-W-R) ~> Be perplexed, go back, become confounded or perplexed, to return, to circle, a color, return/recoil, compete/contend for glory/superiority, wash/whiten.
Some of the derivatives used in al quran are
Hawareyyun (noun) 352, 5111-112, 6114.
Hoor (noun) 4454, 5220, 5572, 5620.
Tahawor (noun) 581
Yahaawer (verb) 1834, 37.
Yahoor (verb) 8414.
Hawareyyun = Disciples, fair ones, persons of fair or unsullied character. This word is used to describe the close allies of Jesus in the ayaat in which this word is mentioned (352, 5111-112, 6114). In other ayaat such as the ones in which yahoor is used there is a conotation of reverting from one state to another. Some definitions for these others derivatives are
Tahawor = Conversation.
Hoor = Fair ones.
Yahoor = Goes back.
Yahaawer = Converses.
From what I can tell hurun may be pure companions unsullied by vice. A possibility is that hurun are pure thoughts of the one in control of the shayteen which are the forces that cause opposition in mankind/insana.Thus the righteous (almuttaqeen) will be given this portion for their righteous acts and compliances (4451-55, 5217-20).

Salaam,
- Will we able to see our loved ones (like our family) in jannah?
I believe the true family of the muslimeen and the mumin can only be those who are likewise muslimeen and mumin, all for Allah. Remember with Moses and the wise character he was with and how the true son was not bound by blood, but by who they were.
- Allah is going to wed us with the hoors in heaven, then if let's say my wife in this world (i ain't got but i'm talking hypothetically) goes to heaven and if i see her with one, won't I be jealous?
I'm not sure if hurun should be literally taking as beings like ourselves, but these are rather the replacements of the shayteen which we have killed through our jihad to arrived at janna.
- What if someone i like more than anything goes to hell. How can I be happy when he/she is suffering?
I think when you arrive in these gardens then you can understand more clearly the concept of justice and learn to accept that others must be rewarded according to their deeds with no hard feelings. You may simply be happy that justice is being done.

Peace,
SoLDieR_Of_ALLAH, I know it sounds harsh but it's the truth.
- Say ?If your fathers, and your sons, and your brothers, and your wives, and your clan, and money which you have gathered, and a trade which you would fear if it declines, and homes which you find pleasing; if these are dearer to you than the god and his messenger and striving in the cause of the god, then wait until the god brings his decision. The god does not guide the wicked people.?
I believe it's a necessary condition to access the state of jannah.

SoLDieR_Of_ALLAH
Paradise and hell are the two returns in just recompense promised by Allah for the two deeds - the right and the wrong - that we do in this life. Recompense for bad is bad, a portion of which, we are forced to taste in this life itself so that we might mend ourselves. A great portion of our sins may either be forgiven by Allah based on our sincerity to correct ourselves or stored for retribution, in the life after death. When we die as incorrigible sinners, our part and portion of sins are extended in gravity in such viciousness that every sin we leave behind without being forgiven
begets and ramifies until the Last Day, and this will be accounted in wholesomeness for your sins. The result is hell, deadly and severe; not enough until it is over which will never end but last forever! If we correct our ways in the path of righteousness, our sins will be forgiven and still the best to come is 039.035; 053
So that Allah will turn off from them the worst in their deeds and give them their reward according to the best of what they have done.
Say "O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah for Allah forgives all sins for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Thus as allah forgives our sins, the good is what we leave behind and all that it earns after our life in this world is stored in our account until the Last Day. Allah further says 006.160
He that doeth good shall have 10 times as much to his credit
We will be rewarded in plentiful without the evil touching it as we involve in its pleasures. Unending pleasures without limits! If girls are your pleasures Allah has provided abundantly that you shall praise HIM for what He had kept up as He promised. And for the girls Allah would not unjustifiedly forget to reward their pleasures in full abundance. Allah knows what we do not know. he is powerful over everything and none shall keep His promise as allah does. So be not among the doubtful. Be clear in what you want and never be fancifully allegorical in every aspect and as a result be rid off of every benefit in the end. What you wish is there with allah and never trespass in conjectures and lose yourselves. Your knowledge is different from that of the wisdom of allah. He is all powerful over everything you wish. Wish for more and get rewarded in ample measures!
Our family members if righteous will be with us in jannah, all having similar ages; An 80 year old lady will not enter the paradise as old one but as young and as beautiful that you could imagine in your best imagination. But Allah is most gracious. He will beautify you much above your imagining. He is All-Capable! All of us will be of same and in the prime of our ages, eternally. This! For the companions of the Right-hand.
For those who were the Foremost, the Shahidis - for them is the hurul ein, the most purified, long eyed - like pearls in the shells, humble and lowered in their gaze.
Mumins! Aspire to become Muslims by being pure which is possible only when you lower your gaze in humility. This will make you gain wisdom of Allah over the knowledge of erroneous, most.

Salaam Green Leaves,
As for the virgins of paradise, that's something I myself need to understand upon.
Besides there's another verse that says you'll enter paradise with the righteous among your spouses, parents, children...then if that's the case, you are entering paradise with your spouses, then why do you want virgins on the side?I suppose that in Jannah there would be social relationships as well as intimate relationships. Not all good men have spouses on Earth. And those who do have righteous ones on Earth and managed to reach Jannah together that does not mean, I imagine, that they won't have a choice there to change their spouses. I don't know how the intimate feelings of the Faithful would be in Jannah, but the fact that Allah is telling the men that there are beauties in Jannah, it looks to me like there are unlimited choices there with no offence to the righteous women who will also have unlimited choices as well.
But women in general don't need to be promised with a Reward of men in order to strive for Jannah. We certainly are different than men regarding what we wish and work for. Do you not agree?Taj
-
Salaamayn to you, Joe,
I wonder if you can agree that all men do not think alike just like all women do not think alike
Men and people in general can't be all alike, but can you disagree that the difference in preferences between men and women is very clear?
so I would say your method of commenting on these ayaat is not paticularly the best.
Oh!
Taj
-
Salaams Joe,
Actually they are not really that apparent. What is seen on the outside is usually there to conform to cultural mores.
It is very apparent to me that men's preferences are different than women's and that is because it is a physiological thing not a cultural.
I would like to see what others here think about that.
Taj
-
Salam all,
Joe would be there for the women. I'll be the little man whore.
Thanks for the proposal Joe ! This really reassures me about heaven !
lol
But what I actually liked more was the rest of your post on the root word. Very interesting and acceptable to me.I must admit, I never could imagine a "sexual" heaven. Not because I'm against sex - it's natural. But I think it's for this life.
Now to Taj I don't think that men and women are really different and if they are I think it's mostly cultural, specifically concerning sex. Our personal work as muslims is to dominate and canalyse our pulsions...but in traditional (not only islamic) societies this burden is usually much harder on the girls and there is much more permissiveness for the boys - that's where the cultural differences come from.
A boy living a free sex life and not controlling his pulsions is much more acceptable (even often a kind of hero) to society than a girl who would do the same. So my idea is that the difference is not physiological, women have the same needs and cravings than men, but we are not allowed to express them (if not we would be treated "the word again" oops )and have learned, through cultural pressure to deny much.
What do you think ?
Elke

Quran never mentions anything about seven levels of hell or heaven. It mentions there being 7 gates to hell, that doesn't mean there are 7 layers. As for heaven, it talks about 7 skies (samawatin), not 7 heavens as in paradise heavens. So where are you guys getting this 7 heaven/hell thing. Hadith? Dantes Inferno?

I'm always under the impression a massive transformation takes place in humanity before they enter Paradise. This means we arent human anymore, which means all your assumptions are too, well, assumptious, lol.
Think we will be able to eat and drink, but not defecate and urinate, this means no digestive system. The changes we go through I believe wont just be physical, but spiritual/mental too, relationships, societies, all will be completely different I suspect. Why? Simply because we all know it is impossible to create paradise on earth, we know this, human beings just carent capable, they always mess things up. I used to ponder if humans would mess Paradise up, but then realised we wouldnt be human anymore, our capability to destroy things, to feel negative emotions would be erased.
- Will we able to see our loved ones (like our family) in jannah?
There are numerous verses that say we do.
- Allah is going to wed us with the hoors in heaven, then if let's say my wife in this world (i ain't got but i'm talking hypothetically) goes to heaven and if i see her with one, won't I be jealous?
I'm still not sure about this topic either, but have read some interesting replies in this thread. I think the husband and wife only keep themselves busy with each other, and single people will have partners (post-human or from Paradise itself, I dont know), so as to not feel alone.
- What if someone i like more than anything goes to hell. How can I be happy when he/she is suffering?
I've often wondered similar thoughts, about people who dont believe in God but apart from that are good people, who do good deeds. Not believing is the biggest sin however, so are all their deeds for nothing? I've wondered about a purifying that takes place over time in Hell for some people before they are allowed in Paradise, but I'm not sure if that was in the Quran or not. Probably not though.
But this quote was a good answer to that question
You won't be in Jannah until you have accepted Allah's Judgment. Allah is All Just. How can you love someone who consciously insists on disobeying Allah?
