The meaning from 42:51

Salaam,
From the following verse
It is not given to any human being that Allah should speak to him unless (it be) by Inspiration, or from behind a veil, or (that) He sends a Messenger to reveal what He wills by His Leave. Verily, He is Most High, Most Wise. (Qur'an 4251)
I would like to know what does Allah almighty mean by, " From behind the veil".
It's easy to work out what does Allah mean "by inspiration" or "by sending a messanger". But what's behind the veil mean?
Sounds mysterious, doesn't it?
I have been thinking very hard, but I can't work it out and I would really like to hear your thoughts on it. To me this is a very important question.
Also, I would like to hear your thoughts on, what does" By inspiration" mean to you? It might be different for different Muslims.
