The ratio of the appearances of the words "sea" and ?land" in the Qur?an is identical to the ratio between sea and land in modern science. The continents had not yet been discovered at the time the Qur?an was sent down, and it was impossible to determine the ratio between the land and sea. Even such a large continent as America was only discovered in the 15th century.

The word "land" appears 12 times in the Qur?an , while ?sea? appears 33 times . These numbers total 45. If we divide the number of references to land in the Qur?an, 12, by 45, the result is 26.666666666%. When we divide the number of references to sea in the Quran, 33, by 45, the result is 73.333333333%. these ratios are the exact ones that apply between water and dry land on Earth.

The repetition of these words in the Qur?an may be an indication that the Earth is 73% covered in water and 26% in dry land. (Allah knows the truth.) It has only been possible to arrive at this ratio in the present day, thanks to satellite photos and computer calculations.

Number of times the word ?land? appears in the Qur?an = 12
Number of times the word ?sea? appears in the Qur?an = 33
Proportion of dry land to sea covering the Earth = 12/45 = 26%
Proportion of sea to dry land on Earth = 33/45 = 73%

This is old news. It's still a great sign of the Quran though.

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

There is a problem with this though... the exposed land versus sea can vary depending on how the land masses move and depending on the stored ice at the poles. It has more than likely varied quite a lot over the centuries, not to mention 1500 years ago. The land is also rising. Only in the Persian Gulf, for example, the waters went much further in and almost reached ancient Ur and that was not too long ago (even if it has been a while).

It was not to discourage you from believing in Quran, but it is was something to keep in mind. It is always important to think rationally including logic.

          Be well
          Amenuel
