What kind of food do you eat when fasting?
-
Peace brother,
I see. Care to elaborate a bit?
Peace brother,
I always try to follow what Allah has guided me to inshaAllah.
And that is purely for myself. As I said earlier in other threads that if Allah wants something to be fixed, He would have said it clearly. But that is not the case in alQuraan in many matters, like Salaat, Saum, etc..
If you see whom to marry and whom to not, you will get very clear instructions. And if you want to look up for haraam things to eat, it is very clearly mentioned in alQuraan unline Salaat and Saum.
Why?
It depends upon our levels. Level in the sense how much you are close to Allah. He take out burdens from you, make things easy for you if you get closer and closer to Him. I was facing difficulty in following so called Saum. Then I seek His help and He guided me, alhamduliAllah. I down from 30 to 3-5 Sawms only. Then again upgraded to non-speaking saum but eating and drinking was continued. I felt difficult again with non-speaking saum and seek Allah's help. And He guided again. Now no sawm for me, alhamduliAllah.
Please note that in all these procedures, I always try to keep myself sincere and honest to myself with the help of Allah. No cheating included.
Not only me, some of my friends here also has no fasting now, and not because of me, they seek Allah's help and He guided them all in different ways, mashaAllah hail
The way He shown me may not work for you or others bro, you may need to seek His help to guide you on this matter. Again depending on your level He will guide you. If He wants you to do saum for 10 days, or 5 days or 3 days, whatever, you must have to follow it. InshaAllah, He will guide you more and more and make things easy only if He wills.
May Allah increase our knowledge and guide us on His path pr

like you Christians?
Who is a Christian? Not me.
To occasionally fast may be beneficial, but over an extensive period I would not give it any merit. And to overall fast from the world at all times is a stronger decision.
Do you even realize how disrespectful the second clause is?
Should I remain quiet just because you are offended when I express a logical and true statement that was intended to be an encouragement. I had no intention of aiming any disrespect to you or anyone else feeling hit but it was entirely about approval.
I do like to give approval when people display wisdom. If you do I would too, it is not that I have favored individuals.
Be well

Nice intuition, reel. There is some sense in you.
Thanks, but I would not think it would be common sense to think my God is my dad.
Do you even realize how disrespectful the second clause is? smh
Just like Hp Tech this is disrespectful
Thanks bro, for standing up.
Selam sister, Allah tells us to fast, no eating and drinking and no sex ( from first light that we see before sunrise till darkness of the night, after sunset when the darkness comes ). I think that fasting should be taken serious and this is from Quran, you should not feel guilty about this Peace
Well, I am delaying the marriage. So sex is not a concern. ;D
What I have been questioning is whether God would want me to do something that would risk the lives of others. It is easy to say I'll go without eating, but dehydration, headache and hallucination are not in my control. But again, this isn't really about me. This is the truth about many Muslims who work during Ramadan. At this point, many will defend it because Muslims aren't exactly contributing to biggest progresses of the world. Just think for a while what if the people of the entire western hemisphere were fasting. How would that look for the economy of the world with projects being delayed and grumpy people running all over the place? I am too used to seeing excuses coming from Muslims about difficult and time consuming projects specifically during Ramadan. Of course, I understand that such things are too much for a hungry stomach and that's what makes me doubt the traditional one.
I read mmkhan's analysis earlier, but I wanted to look into more explanations about the fasting. Now I am seriously reevaluating my position.
2185 says that during Ramadan we are to be grateful to Allah, but most people seem to do the opposite. Majority of the time, they dream of the iftar foods. On the other side of the line, those who have less money get into sorrowful mood for not being able to afford foods like the upper and middle class people. So to me, the entire month seems to be about worshiping food instead of Allah. It is like the food telling people, "you will be grateful to me only if you go without eating for 30 days. And of course, on Eid day they end up feeling grateful because it screams "Ramadan is over". I also know that plenty of people fast due to peer/social pressure.

Dad or creator, the word means basically the same, at least in Arabic/Semitic, although Rabb is more the word for developer, and Rabb is a word very related to abbu. You do not realize that it is in the image that Rabb came with you are formed, i.e. it is your father. You might be allergic to that reasoning, but that is because you are tainted by what the sectarians have taught you. Rabb is your Abbu.
This is why Jesus is seen using the term in those Biblical Gospels. In Quran, father (abbu) is used in reference to God, the first time in chapter 2, but the sectarians blurred the meaning in the sentences to imply something else. The reason is because the word abbu (translated as father) is not biological by word and the word means give (life), i.e. God is an abbu. That is why Jesus uses abbu while it is translated as father in English which we take as having a biological meaning.
Do you not think the clerics and people of his time would have reacted stronger if he said that God was his biological father? They barely comment that he calls God father, due to the above reason concerning abbu, although he uses the word abbu obviously differing from father.
When Jesus calls himself son of God that obviously implies that he means he has God's traits. What you may not know is that in the word "bani Israel" Israel is a "codename" for God, i.e. children of the chief.
The opposite female word is amu and means "be from" and usually translated as mother.
You do not think I am proficient and know what I am writing about? Everything I try to teach you is correct and sanctioned by Rabb.
I would advise you to make a better and wider research about this and not just stare yourself blind on a Quran with an interpretation produced by some incompetent clerics.
You are sensible enough to see there is something "fishy" about Ramadan, so do not let it stop at that. The word used for fasting saum means much more than what is implied and it says "abstention" and means to refrain from things and basically everything of this world. This "fasting" should be commenced 365 days per year and not just a month. It is the process of conformity to what is a remedy to your current state of being trapped within a species called Homo Sapiens which does not belong to the real you. Your soul is a fragment of Rabb and you are meant for something greater than a lowly primate. The reason for that testing is to try your willpower and your ability to develop within the most hostile and corrupting of environments as you cannot deny that Satan's enticements are quite heavy on your mind. You need to learn that the instinct is your main enemy.. or problem. This is not a person and Satan has never been a person but your own drive to enter in firmly.
Always strive to be more advanced and less primitive and avoid those Pagan rituals you are used to as they only bring your instincts forth.
Be well

Selam sister,
You are your own wife LOL, i am not married too, but my mother cooks, the only problem she starts with cooking a few hours before iftar. So the smell of food goes thru the house. My parants do not fast. You have to watch out with cereal is my advice, i know that kellogs has special k and it is not healthy https//www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUNl6Po8cTY this video is in Dutch, but maybe you can find some information in German.
I lived in the Netherlands and know kohlrabi, but i never tasted it. You say in the morning cereal, i eat cereal and after one hour i am hungry, i would never eat cereal and fast all day. I love bread and meat, and when eating bread i think i can easily fast whole day. Have a nice iftar, guten apetit, Peace
Don't worry, I don't eat kellogs but some organic stuff (the only thing I can eat at 2am) and it keeps me full at least better than the wheat bread I normally eat. Yesterday, I had a wonderful group Iftar but far too much food, could not stand that every day (resp. night).
guten apetit
Danke (sorry I don't speak a word of dutch) -

Selam, i speak German too, i saw you are from Berlin, i lived in Siegen in 1992,
The group iftar is that organised by a masjid? I saw this 2 days ago in my city and it was very nice to see such a big group eating together.peace

It's a group called liberal Muslims (I know the word liberal is controversial, "open-minded" might be better, but there is no good translation for that in German), we don't have a mosque yet but meet regularly and one of the group invited the others.

Selam,
watch out for spies, in every group there must be one spy at least, i would never trust such a group, i rather stay at home and read Quran.
It would be nice to have such a mosque, but who will be your imam, i think that would be very difficult. I hope you and your group with help of Allah will succeed in such a dangerous action. Let me know when you succeed and watch yourself.
It is a crazy time that you might be in danger, because you follow Quran and not hadith.

Mom is not a creator then huh? God leaves signs for people to understand. I might have been made biologically by my parents. That doesn't mean I am them. Plenty of people in this world think they are Gods and this hasn't gone down well in most cultures. By the hindus do believe humans are Gods.
This is why Jesus is seen using the term in those Biblical Gospels. In Quran, father (abbu) is used in reference to God, the first time in chapter 2, but the sectarians blurred the meaning in the sentences to imply something else. Did God tell the Arabs to follow the culture of the Armanian people? You are mixing cultures with religions which is similar to what sectarians do, i.e. copying the middle eastern culture means obeying the Prophet.
Do you not think the clerics and people of his time would have reacted stronger if he said that God was his biological father? They barely comment that he calls God father, due to the above reason concerning abbu, although he uses the word abbu obviously differing from father.
There are plenty of other Prophets. Why is it that what Jesus said must only be taken as the ultimate verification of truth?
When Jesus calls himself son of God that obviously implies that he means he has God's traits. What you may not know is that in the word "bani Israel" Israel is a "codename" for God, i.e. children of the chief.
In my view, he was talking about Panentheistic God.
You do not think I am proficient and know what I am writing about? Everything I try to teach you is correct and sanctioned by Rabb.
I did notice you stumbled badly when it came to clear verses. Note that some of them were not clear to me. But I expected them to be clear to you because you have been going around telling us that your interpretations are correct. One of the worst among all was that your brilliant mind failed to grasp the verses pinpointing evolution. I admit that I was rejecting the theory and back then I didn't put the relevant verses together to find it in the Quran. But when Invalid asked about multiplication of humans from Adam and Eve through incest you almost gave it a green signal. Similarly, you have been telling us the opposite of what Allah told us to believe. He is everywhere and we are not him.
I would advise you to make a better and wider research about this and not just stare yourself blind on a Quran with an interpretation produced by some incompetent clerics.
How about the idea that not even your Armanian clerics were competent enough since the verses of the Quran and Quranic themes are found even in Books written much before Gospel?
You are sensible enough to see there is something "fishy" about Ramadan, so do not let it stop at that.
There is nothing fishy about Ramadan. It is just that humans tend to misunderstand God. People of Mosses eagerly wanting to worship a Golden calf is a great example that. Humans are hardwired to not think when it comes to knowing what God truly wants them to do.
This "fasting" should be commenced 365 days per year and not just a month. This whole thing is nicely summed up in verses you think are forged and incorrect. There is no need to go so abstract. We came out of bloodshedders. We are to be successors. We are to be civilized. Every negative thing like greed, blindly following, promiscuity, arrogance, oppressing and so on takes us back to forest. We no more remain humans.Hence, the verses tell us to avoid such behavior. Quran is clear and easy to understand when it is fully considered.
