      Peace be upon you,

As soon as you came from your mother, you began the process of LEARNING. Soon you understood gravity, you understood hunger. Later you started to understand the sounds coming from those moving lips, then you understood letters , then words, now here you are.

Salaat is the process of learning, the God taught us this from the beginning.

It is He Who has TAUGHT THE QURAN. 552

Who HAS TAUGHT MANKIND by the pen. 964

HAS TAUGHT MAN that which he knew not. 965

O ye who believe! when ye deal with each other in transactions involving future obligations in a fixed period of time reduce them to writing. Let a scribe write down faithfully as between the parties let not the SCRIBE refuse to write AS ALLAH HAS TAUGHT HIM so let him write?.. 2282

They ask thee as to whatever is allowed unto them. Say thou allowed unto you are all clean foods, and as to the animals of prey which ye have taught even AS ALLAH HAS TAUGHT YOU, eat of that which they have caught for you, and mention the name of Allah over it; and fear Allah, verily Allah is swift in reckoning. 54

If we try to know "HOW" for the above five verses then we can definitely understand "HOW" for 2239

        Thanks

And if you are ill, or traveling, or you have excreted feces, or you have had sexual contact with the women, and you could not find water, then you shall do ablution from clean soil; you shall wipe your faces and your hands. YUSUFALI If ye fear (an enemy), pray on foot, or riding, (as may be most convenient), but when ye are in security, celebrate Allah's praises in the manner He has taught you, which ye knew not (before).
PICKTHAL And if ye go in fear, then (pray) standing or on horseback. And when ye are again in safety, remember Allah, as He hath taught you that which (heretofore) ye knew not.
SHAKIR But if you are in danger, then (say your prayers) on foot or on horseback; and when you are secure, then remember Allah, as. He has taught you what you did not know.
KHALIFA Under unusual circumstances, you may pray while walking or riding. Once you are safe, you shall commemorate GOD as He taught you what you never knew.

I think the as-salat mentioned in 2238-239 reffers to the obligations or upholding/following(one of the dic. meanings for salat is close following) of obligations and the commitments in general and/or those mentioned previously ...if you have noticed the topic of the passage is treating of woman, marriage-and-divorce obligations, duties etc and now out of blue should come verses about ritual praying?

..i dont think so...this particularly cause we do not find these details elswhere in the book, and they should be there according to this verse...but we do find the details about marriage, its obligations, commitments, detail regulations etc. ...so my conclusion is that 2238-9 obviously arent bringing a sudden change in topic but are a natural and consistent part of the passage its continuation and confirmation, and explanation that all the mentioned duties should be wholeheartedly upholded even in the state of fear , its just that then they maybe could be performed less strictly... i say maybe cause my arabic is far from perfect and according to my knowledge this might be instruction that even in the state of fear we should fully uphold the obligations/commitments (some translate as-salat exactly with these words)....(note that after 2238-9 the passage again goes on with reminding/prescribing of marriage commitments obligations and duties )

imo rijalan wa rukbanan might be an idiom meaning as convinient or according to the circumstances or as much/good as you can or are able to do...of course its just my guess but since the details of the traditional salat ritual arent present in the book, its best what i can come with by reasoning from the context while sticking to the God given principles for understanding of His words known to me from the rest of the book....

            best wishes, Zlatan

It was not the SALAAT that was TAUGHT by Allah, but His REMEMBRANCE

FA- 'IDHAA 'AMINTUM FA- UDHKURO 'ALLAAH KA-MAA cALLAMA -KUM

THEN WHEN you are in security / peace / safety REMEMBER Allah AS HE HAS TAUGHT YOU.

              Thanks

bro the versus r strictly pointing towords salat i accept that the obligation r part of salaat n with out holding obligation i don,t think so one can get salaat or fever of God or could it pointing towords the dowery mantion in the initial ayet
2236. There is no sin upon you if you divorce the women before having sexual intercourse with them, or before committing to what was agreed for them. Let them have recompense, the rich according to his means, and the poor according to his means. Recompense which is in goodness, a responsibility for those in kindness.

as-salatul wusta i believe can also be translated as the best or excellent folowing/upholding or upholding in the best way denoting the quality of upholding....

its quite simple, in previous verses, as well as in the whole book...by upholding the regulations He has prescribed to us we are remembering and/or celebrating Him just like the whole animated and unanimated unverse is celebrating him by obeying His laws...

note that dhikr here translated as rememberance might be translated as glorifying/celebrating as well

It is He Who has TAUGHT the (READING) QURAN. 552

Who has TAUGHT mankind (WRITING) by the pen. 964

Has TAUGHT man that which he knew not (FROM THE DAY ONE TILL TODAY) 965

O ye who believe! when ye deal with each other in transactions involving future obligations in a fixed period of time reduce them to writing. Let a scribe write down faithfully as between the parties let not the SCRIBE refuse to write as ALLAH has TAUGHT him (COMMERCE) so let him write?.. 2282

They ask thee as to whatever is allowed unto them. Say thou allowed unto you are all clean foods, and as to the animals of prey which ye have taught even as ALLAH has TAUGHT you (THE INTELLECT OF ANIMALS), eat of that which they have caught for you, and mention the name of Allah over it; and fear Allah, verily Allah is swift in reckoning. 54

And We taught him (TECHNOLOGY) the art of making the coats of mail for you that it may protect you from your violence; are ye then thankful? 2180

And Solomon was David's heir. He said "O ye people! we have been taught the SPEECH OF BIRDS and on us has been bestowed (a little) of all things this is indeed Grace manifest (from Allah)."2716

HOW did we learn, READING, WRITING, COMMERCE, TECHNOLOGY etc? Although it is mentioned in the Quran that Allah has taught this, but nowhere explained HOW.

We have to use our own intellect to find out how we learnt all these things. Surely this is not a one-day job, but a gradual process of millions of years.

It is exclusively because of the guidance and inspiration of Allah that we have reached this stage.

He inspires men to do things and then He guides them.

And your Lord INSPIRED the BEE, saying "Take you habitations in the mountains and in the trees and in what they erect. 1668

If we try to know "HOW" for the above verses then we can definitely understand "HOW" for 2239

                      HOW TO REMEMBER ALLAH

Those who REMEMBER Allah standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and THINK DEEPLY about the CREATION of the HEAVENS and the EARTH, (SAYING) "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this WITHOUT PURPOSE, glory to You! Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire. 3191

SAY "Call upon Allah or call upon RAHMAN, by whatever NAME you invoke Him for to Him belong the BEST NAMES. Neither be LOUD in your PRAYERS nor be SILENT in it but follow a way between. 17110

The most BEAUTIFUL NAMES belong to Allah SO CALL ON HIM BY THEM; but LEAVE THOSE who APOSTATISE in His NAMES for what they do they will soon be requited. 7180

And REMEMBER thou thy Lord within thyself with HUMILITY and FEAR, without LOUDNESS in word, in the morning and evenings; and be thou not of the negligent 7205

AND SAY "Praise be to Allah Who begets no son and has no partner in (His) dominion nor (needs) He any to protect Him from humiliation Yea MAGNIFY Him for His greatness and glory!"17111

And REMEMBER your Lord by your TONGUE and WITHIN yourself, HUMBLY and with FEAR without LOUDNESS in WORDS in the early MORNINGS, and in the late EVENINGS and be not of those who are NEGLECTFUL. 7205

And REMEMBER the NAME of your Lord early MORNING and late EVENING 7625

O mankind! REMEMBER the FAVOUR of Allah TOWARDS YOU. Is there any Creator other than Allah who provideth for you from the heaven and the earth? There is no god but He. Wither then are ye deviating? 353

                      Hope this will help you.

                      Thanks
