Practicality

What did you get from Quran in the practical sense? I see many people here are struggling to find the meaning of the words (from most basic things) and are dwelling on the Book and it's meaning because we know the translations are terribly misinterpreted but life is passing by and time is ticking. What did you get as a practical guide in this life to live it fully and happily from the Quran?

Too many to mention, but I'll try to keep it short
- Being humble/cut down pride
- How clean the heart is matters
- Charity/take care of the earth
- There is nothing wrong in not following the majority
- Having faith in Allah
- Being thankful for what we have
- Reason but by keeping ethics in check
- Progress
- Understand signs scattered all around us/Research/Knowledge
- Make peace with others
- Promise we make matters

Salaam,
2 things
The truth and a mirror.
Salaam,

Peace all,
(1) Self-responsibility - We can't blame anyone else for our mistakes. We have to seek, and verify, and learn for ourselves. We are only responsible for ourselves, and because of this, none of us will be unfairly wronged past anything we have done.
(2) Human limitations and weakness - I can't guide anyone. You can't guide anyone. No one's going to save us. We have to save ourselves. We're selfish. We're arrogant. We're materialistic. We're not the creators - We're not as all high and mighty as we'd like to think we are. We only ask for help from God or others when we feel like we need Him. When everything's fine, we go back into our lives like nothing has happened. This (may be) a reflection of people's relationships in every day life. A lot of people (not all) don't know how to humble themselves. Humbling oneself is not only important with God, but important in your relationships with other people.
(3) Signs of God - As reel said, Qur'an constantly asks us to reflect on the world around us. God taught us the Qur'an, and God can be found everywhere.
(4) Justice - I do believe Qur'an promotes justice in eliminating evil and oppression against people. It tells people they need to fight, because people are being hunted or oppressed and we need to do something about it. We should also be feeding the hungry... We can think all day long about why God isn't feeding them, but at the end of the day, we are the ones responsible on this earth and we need to take care of each other. Why don't we do more for each other?
(5) Importance of honesty, maintaining oaths - The Qur'an stresses the importance of honesty with the strict punishment of liars in chapter 24. We're not meant to speak blatant lies about another. We're also not meant to say anything against another people we don't know, because as God says (forget the chapter and verse number), for all we know, they may be better than us. The seriousness of keeping to our oaths is also stressed many times. Oaths to God or to other people should not be taken lightly.
(6) Peaceful social interactions (particularly with those who are different from us) - No one's allowed to say any other person is not a believer if they offer a greeting of peace. If attackers cease fighting and offer peace, we should also seek it. The believing men and women are allies, kindness and reconciliation is promoted among spouses, we must be good to our parents, and no one can be blamed for what they do not know - they must be taught. We're told that we all have different rites and rituals, and that God could have made us one community, but he made us into many for us to get to know each other. When we walk the land, we should not do so arrogantly and we should say "Peace."

Certainty.
Rearch on he Qur'an based on he Qur'an alone allos to go to the bottom of any issue and find what th Qur'an really says. here aremnay issues wih the Qur'an we have been struggling all along, because he were served to us already interpreted. So now we find he real text and we can be certain that whe seen as it is and undersood as is, he Qur'an is reasonale and knowledgeabl and just and human, it does not pander to vanities nor to gushy sentimentality.
Freedom. We are free wih Qur'an or without it, but with Qur'an we do know we are free and we know hat God loves us to be free, that we have wide margin and considerations to make our own journey, that there is no authroity between God and us, except fro the pProphet if such prophet is alive with us.
Thirsst for knowledge and understanding. We know everything makes sense, so we try harder to see that magificent composition whish is existence.
Patience and optimism. This world is not the end. Justice and fusion prevails. Our deeest dires will be saisfied, our and everybody's. God's Mercy is the over riding manifestation of God and His power, all power is here to uphold His mercy.
We are worth, since God did create us and God makes no mistakes.
Salaam

At the moment i read the Quran also in a way that it is a revelation that also mentioned the Torah, Psalms and the Gospel.
For me, and may my Lord guide me, it's a whole new experience and dimension of understanding when i read it like that. Because when i was afraid of reading the Torah, Psalms and Gospel it seemed that i didn't understand the terms like Moses, David, Jesus, Torah, Psalms and Gospel. Who are they and what are they. Etc.
Just like the Shabbat, it's mentioned in the Quran. If you read the Torah, by Hes will, u get a understanding of what the Shabbat is.
Also, the children of Israel, it's mentioned in the Quran. If you read the Torah, by Hes will, u get a understanding of what or who Israel is.
Etc.
Just like when you read the present Gospel. You read that Jesus, Son of Mary, Messiah, Son of David, king of Israel used to obey the previous revelation/the Torah etc.
We should also ask ourselves, why is the Quran revealed?
