Shabbat Shalom, does anyone try to uphold the Torah - Shabbat here at the moment
-
Adam,
The point was that there is no Sabbath day but it is up to each person. If you contemplate one half day and then another you have done a full day of contemplation. Adding to that you can contemplate another day and thus have had two Sabbaths in one week. It is the reflection which is important.
Be well
Amenuel -
Yes, i agree. Abraham, however did not, in my understanding, and God tells us in the quran to follow his example. I dont believe we are obliged to hold the shabbat, as i mentioned in my previous post, that verse from the quran regarding why God decreed shabbat, is why i believe that. Although i see nothing wrong if any believer holds shabbat, in fact i would encourage it. personaly i try and focus on God every day of the week, and at all times.
Have you read the "soehoef" of Abraham? I couldn't find it.

you mean those footprint things by the kabbah in mecca?
Noooo... brother.
I mean
8714 Whoever purifies will succeed.
8715 And remembers the name of his Lord, so he reaches out.
8716 No, you desire the worldly life.
8717 But the Hereafter is better and more lasting.
8718 This has been revealed in the previous scripts.
8719 The scripts of Abraham and Moses. The scripts of Abraham..
I am still searching for them..
May my Lord guide me.
Peace.

For your benefit, Adam. You should do what benefits you.

peace,
there are a few scripts that people claim are from abraham, i think it is possible that this is referring to the torah though, if i recall correctly it is the 'suhuf' of abraham and moses or 'collection of pages', so it could refer to the relevant accounts in the torah.

I have read something, that was claimed to be the suhuf of Abraham. But i ended up reading some weird things. So i am very cautious.

All praise due to God, Lord of the worlds. Thanks for the advice, may my Lord guide me.

8719 The scripts of Abraham and Moses.Quran has everything needed. The answer to 8719 is in 8714-15, and also in the rest of the Quran. There is nothing extra. The most important ritual is purification of the heart. I know the meaning of worldly life has been corrupted by mullahs of many different religions. Its simple meaning is "don't be a sheeple".

That's why you are upholding a narration of Ibn Kathir and don't like the reading of the Torah!

peace
mu'mins (those who trust in god completely) are required to trust in all his revelations. including the torah, and the gospel, and the quran.
and reel, prehaps you could clarify for us? because if god has willed, prehaps if you clarify yourself some people may recieve admonition. often the way we present a concept plays a considerable part in how people react to it, and we should attempt to be as clear as possible to present our point, to minimize misinterpretation. after all, god may be all aware, but we are not, and we cannot read minds
-
If only you knew what I meant...
Sorry, with all due respect. Question What book would you love to read more, the Torah or the literature of Ibn Kathir?

I have been upholding a Hebraic understanding of the Torah for several years now, and feel there is absolutely nothing in the Quran to contradict the idea of Sabbath observance or many other Jewish/Judaeo-Christian practices. I believe God instituted the Friday prayer for the reason that He didn't want to risk Jews breaking the Sabbath, which they run a risk of doing by going to synagogue on Friday night/Saturday morning. At the same time I do not subscribe to the Orthodox interpretation of "39 types of work" and consider it only suggested guidance that can actually take away from oneg Shabbat (the joy of Sabbath).

"friday prayer", depends also on how you read it. As day of assembly, or friday..
I have no struggles in following the Shabbat. And i even am glad that i can have one. First few times felt like i have never had a real break in my life.
It felt like i was going to school/working for 7 days in a week. So 1 day in a week free feels really good. Also i didn't know Saturday was the last day of the week. Now i feel REALLY energetic on sunday. It's a day where you can do what ever you want since you had the day before a break, and on sunday most of the people don't work or go to school.

Yeah, why wouldn't you want to go to a mosque on friday? Anyways, i wish you good luck, finding one that isn't ruined by sectarians.
Nowadays i pray at home by the will of God. All praise due to God, Lord of the worlds.
But really, doesn't the verse say "yawmo al-djzumuha"?
Either it's a name of a day in the week or it means day of assembly? If you think it means day of assembly then you could have a day of assembly on every day.
To be honest, this verse remembers me to the Shabbat anyways. Because it mentioned the part with "work". I feel like i don't read the "old testament" enough. Because the Quran was revealed by a reason. And it was after the Torah/Psalms/Gospel etc. that it was revealed.
-
Remember, we should study the word of God and ask Him alone for guidance.
Look how dangerous it is to copy and paste what people say and think about the quran.
Rashad Khalifa was a big preacher of following quran alone. But yet even he was a target for the sectarian doctrine.
Read He's translation
Rashad Khalifa (The Final Testament)
Important Commandments to All Believers
629 O you who believe, when the Congregational Prayer (Salat Al-Jumu`ah) is announced on Friday, you shall hasten to the commemoration of GOD, and drop all business. This is better for you, if you only knew.,Look how there is put between brackets "salat al-jumu'ah"..., isn't this so dangerous! Because the quran mentioned just 3 prayers by name?
At the moment i read it as if the contact prayer is called to at the gathering day. Even FM did translate it as at the gathering day.
This is a whole other context now...
So anyways, may our Lord guide us.
Just wanted to elaborate on the "friday prayer" that is mentioned above in the thread...
