zekr users - monotheist translation for zekr
-
Peace all,
I have finished converting the Monotheist translation to a format that works with zekr, so anyone who uses this software can download it here
http//islamtogether.org/en.me.trans.zip
(edit fixed link alhamdullilah )
go to tools menu > add > translation and select the file you downloaded and you should be able to select it in your view options, and make default in the settings. i did this all the hard way without realizing, so if you cant get it to work, just ask, and i may be able to help.
Essentialy normaly the translations are verified with a signature, which means.. im not sure exactly how it works, but basicaly you cant modify them.. i tried this first when i realized there was no decent translations avaliable (at the time, in my understanding)
so this is a little bit of a hack, but basicaly, since zekr wiki does not work, i just reverse engineered the translation i had, kindly contributed by Yusuf Ali, and found that inside this zip folder, there are two files.
One is a text file containing the translation, the other is a simple text file containing some properties of it, including the signature, which i deleted and re-zipped everything and found i could modify it. so if anyone wants to make their own, just unzip the file, and use your own text, i think you have to have to right en.xxxxxx bit for in the properties, that corresponds to the translations text file name, any questions just ask..i do intend to name it properly, and stuff instead of en.me but i dont know exactly how i did it last time, and zekr seems to think you are tampering with it, and wont work if things are not as it expects.
you can also find the original text here
EDIT i need to fix some encoding issues, untill then it seems to cause problems
http//islamtogether.org/quran.txt
or the one i used for zekr, without the bismillah at the start of surahs except 1 (because its not a 'numbered verse'
http//islamtogether.org/quran-no-bism.txt
I also intend, God willing, to put up versions with no verse numbers, XML, SQL etc to be able to be incorporated easily into other software/apps or whatever.
Peace

1124 ?And there is none who is His equal.???from your first link I get this
Not FoundThe requested URL /en.me.tans.zip was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Peace..
mashaAllah i forgot to fix the link.. sorry, it is http//islamtogether.org/en.me.trans.zip
and i thought the rendering thing was just my browser, when i actualy downloaded the text file it displayed fine..
is this rendering problem with the weird characters when you view it in your browser?
what happens if you right click > save as, and then open it, because for me that worked.. i will, god willing, hunt down why its doing that in the first place though -

Ok, i discovered out what the problem is, and how to fix it, praise God, i would recommend using the link i will, god willing, update soon, because while it may display fine in some cases, the problem is still there, so its bound to cause problems further on down the track, i just got to figure out exactly how to do it, as my programming skills are poor.
will keep updated soon, god willing.

Peace.
god willing, i might be able to fix the issues tommorow. im too weary atm..
untill then, just b e aware that because of encoding issues, it might not work in some text editors, etc so i wouldnt go using it for other things unless it is encoded properly.. or you could run into issues
peace -
Peace everyone, if our lord willed, encoding issues should now be fixed. here are the new links
plain text standard version
zekr translation version
plain text no un-numbered initial bismillah version
plain text standard version in a zip archive
plain text standard version in a bz2 archive
the plain text are all less than 1M so unless you have a rediculously slow internet, or are counting the megabytes (yes, yes for me, haha) that there is not much point.
If any links are broken or any more encoding issues, please let me know, i will, if our lord willed, do my best to fix them.edit also if anyone downloaded the old version before theese new links, please delete them, and use theese ones, otherwise you may run into issues using the text in certain editors, or copying/pasting to certain browsers etc
-
Peace all, i also discovered, mashaAllah, as allah has willed, the zekr translation works with the free and open source 'quran for my android' app, which is avaliable on f-droid (a free open source replacement for google play store) and, if our lord has willed, on google play, but i have not confirmed this, it is the one with a purple icon, a wodden quran reader thing people use to sit the quran in traditionaly (i dont know what theese are called) but i will, our lord willing, update the details after work today and try and provide links,
alhamdullilah, praise be to allah

Salam Timotheus,
I have downloaded your text and updated some of the text (to be in-line with the most recent PDF).
Can you please replace what you have with the below link (please check the formatting as I may have used an older version of your file).
