Orphan Vs Fatherless

Salam,
I am thinking of using "fatherless" instead of "orphans" in the translation (The Message). the reason is that orphans is specific to a person who has lost parents, while fatherless is a person who's father may be dead but also may be alive but has abandoned him/her.
The Quran speaks of adopted children in 335 and says "if you do not know their fathers, then to your brothers in the system" (this indicates the father could be unknown and therefore not orphan).
What do you think?

actually there is another word "maskeen" traditionally people consider it with kids who lost their mother...
yateem =(fatherless)
maskeen= motherlessi m not sure the maskeen who are encourged to feed in case of missing fasts. are these just needy or the ones who lost their mothers?

In 4.3 and 4.127 it does make sense.

I think it should be orphans, here's my reasoning.
Fatherless could mean that the mother is alive or present, and the mother of the fatherless most likely knows the name of the child's father.
However, if the child is an orphan, and the child doesn't recall the name of their father, there is no real source to the name of the father, unless the child is with people from same, let's say, village.

I want to add this too, it's a definition of orphan, but it's from wikipedia. Quote
"An orphan (from the Greek orfan?s) is a child whose parents are dead or have abandoned them permanently. In common usage, only a child who has lost both parents due to death is called an orphan."

In spanish an orphan is the person who has lost to death one of the parents or both, to specify it is said mother orphan or father orphan, or without father and mother.
It may be in the Qur'an it is the context that might say, but still i think the 4.3 and 127 refers to children without father for whatever reason, bein death or being unknown or not acknowledging the child.
