It's very hard for us to "measure" history accounts, even if some event was told by many of historians. Anyways, if we understand something from the Qur'an and THEN we find some history account about it we should accept it, otherwise we should discard it as unimportant or false. People are mostly doing opposite they find some informations and then they're trying to find it in the Qur'an, which is totally wrong.
- The multitude waves of invasion coming from nomadic people from the north towards sedentary settlement is real. It shaped the world as we know today.
- The conflict of 'culture / tradition' between sedentary and nomadic is real.
- The construction of walls / fortifications by sedentary people to ward off invasion from the nomadic people from the north is real, you can go to China and see the remains of one of the fortification which once stood at 10,000 KM length. 10,000 KM that's twice the distance from New York to Seattle. The sedentary people will not built such humongous structure if the threat from the north weren't dire.
- The last invasion from the nomadic people of the north happened around 800 years ago is real, so devastating that it reduce the human population to 60%, the nomads broke the wall and went berserk killing, raping and looting. If it happens today, then it was causing ~3 Billion casualties. If it wasn't an event that worth 'prophesying' then what's the use of prophecy...
- The last invasion shaped the world and the population gene pool as we know today. Basically the "Gog and Magog" has became "us" now.. we are the descendant of "Gog and Magog" a once nomadic and barbaric people from the north, especially for those who are living or has ancestry to people in Asia and Europe.

According to everyone living at the time of Ezekiel, the earth is flat...
America has been discovered by human during that time... although Europeans + Middle Easterner has no knowledge of it's existence.South America were invaded by Spaniard and Portuguese...

I just remembered "Yet another Nomadic people from the North" (labeled as Gog and Magog people by Ezekiel) who only recently (20th century) invaded south and become a new master / landlord in the middle east region. Just yet another stock / wave of Turkic / Gothic / Hunnic / Mongoloid nomad. Unlike the Turk and Western Mongols who converted to Islam or Eastern Mongols who converted to Buddhism / Taoism or the Huns and Goth who converted to Christianity, this group converted to Judaism and becoming the precursor of something that later on known as "Ashkenazi Jews"..

It's very hard for converts to Judaism and to be accepted by the Jews, if it's even possible. What happaned with Khazars was very strange. Jews accepted them as their "13th tribe", even they had no knowledge about Judaism and after Jewish rabbis tried to teach them. If you read about "African Jews" who're now living in Israel and other Jewish communities, you'll see how they treat them.
As I told from some knowledge I got about ayats with Dhulqarnayn, Gog and Magog came to Cyprus with Persian army. They weren't Persians probably, but they could be Khazars. Persians and Khazars are in good relations nowadays also, maybe more then ever. What is very possible is that many of "savage people" who came from Asia are from Khazars (as Turks). This is what we can understand from the history accounts. There's a book called "13th tribe" in which was stated that Brits are from Khazars also. I don't believe much in books, because most of them are theories, but, as I told, if we look at what happened with Cyprus we'll find that fesad on Cyprus continued till today by two nations Britain and Turkey.
I haven't told this, but I'll share it with you now. I was reading/listening scholars from all Muslim "mezheb" and, before I rejected all of them, I've found that most near to the truth are shi'a scholars. Many of them (maybe all) are trying to find one single ayat about imam Mehdi a.s. in the Qur'an, but none of them done this, as I know. They'll tell zillion of narrations about him, but they can't find him in the Qur'an. They'll try to tell that some ayat is about him, but you won't accept what they're saying, unless you accepted narrations.
What they don't know is that Dhulqarnayn is imam Mehdi a.s. they're waiting. Since they can't recognize him now, they won't recognize him when he comes either. Dhulqarnayn is not somebody's real name, nor it's a nickname. They're two, from two ages one was Alexander the Great and the other one will be imam Mehdi a.s. Their main goals are same to beat Gog and Magog and to defeat Persia, but we'll have to know that 2nd Dhulqarnayn will do other tasks also, as going to what we know "west" and punishing those who're doing dhulm. So, if you live on the west wait for the biggest army ever to conquer your lands and to judge (h-k-m) over your deeds. This is importance of these ayats, it's not about some ancient nuclear reactors, nor about terraforming, nor anything mystical.
I don't expect you to believe in my words, just think about these ayats yourselves and reject all the stories, especially from the Jews. Don't forget that it was narrated that Arab mushrikoon went to Jethrib (Medina) and Jews (what they were doing there?) told to them to ask Muhammed Mustafa sawa 3 questions and if he answers to follow him; they didn't say we should all follow him, because it's what almost all of them are.

I have been re-reading the topic of "Gog & Magog" which occurs in Sura 1893-99 & 2196 and have come to a different conclusion than previously held (my previous conclusion was that Gog & Magog are either two rivers of water or lava which were causing havoc to a specific people.
My current understanding is that God & Magog are the nuclear reactions of fission & fusion, which I hope to explain by running through the verses of the story of Zul Qarnain
1892 Then he followed the means.
1893 Until he reached an area that was between the two barriers, he found within it a people who could barely understand anything said.The first interaction Zul Qarnain has with Gog & Magog is when he comes across a people who have barricaded themselves within two walls. The description the Quran gives us is that these people "could barely understand anything said" (1892). At first glance this suggests that there is a language problem, however, these people are able to communicate with Zul Qarnain and speak of engineering matters (1894), which implies that they have an actual defect that was noticeable to Zul Qarnain that affected their brain functions.
1894 They said "O Two Horned One, Gog and Magog are corrupters of the land, so shall we make a tribute for you that you will make between us and them a barrier?"
1895 He said "What my Lord has given me is far better. So help me with strength and I will make between you and them a landfill."The communication with these people indicates that they are having a problem with "yajooj & majooj" which are causing "decay/fasad". They do not ask Zul Qarnain to kill them (assuming they were people) which is a possibility as Zul Qarnain has an army at his disposal and did not hesitate to kill people who were doing wrong 1886-87, however they ask for him to build them another "wall".
The answer of Zul Qarnain is interesting in that he refuses their suggestion to build a "wall" and tells them what they need is a "landfill/radma".
1896 "Bring me dense metal," until he leveled between the two sides. He said "Blow," until he made it into fire. He said "Bring me tar so I can pour it over."
The landfill is made using "zubr alhadeed" which is "hard/dense metal" and is then covered with tar. Now, unless Gog & Magog were all gathered and put into a pit, this is clearly not talking about people...
1897 So they could not penetrate it, and they could not advance in it.
1898 He said "This is a mercy from my Lord. But when the promise of my Lord comes, He will make it rubble. And the promise of my Lord is truth."
1899 And We left them until that day to surge like waves on one another. And the horn was blown, so We gathered them together.Gog & Magog were contained using a dense metal and structure that stopped them penetrating and reaching out. A seal that will remain until the promised time when they will be unleashed again. They particles/molecules continue to react with one another which indicates a shelf life of thousands of years...
In conclusion A nuclear reactor/core was exposed, causing deformations and radiation sickness to the surrounding people who were also engineers. The people did not know how to contain the radiation until Zul Qarnain came along and buried the nuclear material using lead lining.
However, the secret of nuclear power will return as part of God's prophecy that God & Magog emerge again.
2196 Until Gog and Magog is opened, and from every angle they will come forth.
There is also a link that the Jews will be behind this emergence of the nuclear reaction as Sura 174 predicts they will cause "fasad/decay" twice on earth (fasad is the same word used for Gog & Magog)
