    Salaams,
    just my imagination or do people here think simerlarly.Saying in the name of before starting something ,why is it a must - or did Allah simply want us to do according to his methodology?

    Zikar=To remember /make mention of/bear in mind/recollect/admonish
    Asmun=Mark of identification by which one is recognised.
    Ism=distinguishing mark of a thing.

    6121
    And do not you eat of that not been mentioned identified/distinguished (by) Allah of it and it is indeed a disobedience/transgression and indeed the devils do inspire to their friends so that they dispute with you and if you obeyed them you would surely be polytheists.

    Any views?

    Thanks.

      I can not at the moment comprehend how saying God over an item of food is not a superstitious act such as slitting a camels ear who has birthed twins. God does not hold us responsible for our casual oaths rather what enters our hearts, I see the command to eat from 'what God's name was mentioned' as meaning to feed our 'nafs' with what will purify us and not destroy us, which physically is food but we are more than just physical bodies so this applies to our mind and soul as well. This is my two cents.

        Peace be upon you MZ,

        It is my position that we are not to say say "magic formula", we are to follow the God's methodolgy as you stated. The example I like to use is the one about "saying the God's name" over food. Do we recite a magic potion, or do we select food that is in line with the God's attributes of The Nourisher?
