    Salam,

I don't know what you're trying to say, but here's a good verse to subject title

3887 ?It is but a reminder for the worlds.?

    Salam

      What translation are you reading?

An English translation of the Quran - 122 We have sent it down an Arabic revelation, perhaps you will comprehend.

An English translation of the Quran - 20113 And it was such that We sent it down an Arabic revelation, and We dispatched in it the warnings, perhaps they will become aware or it will cause them to remember.

An English translation of the Quran - 3928 A revelation in Arabic, without any crookedness, that they may be righteous.

An English translation of the Quran - 413 A Book whose verses are made detailed - an Arabic revelation for a people who know.

But yeah, i agree lets not forget this verse

An English translation of the Quran - 4144 And had We made it a non-Arabic revelation, they would have said "If only its verses were made clear!" Non-Arabic and Arabic, say "For those who believe, it is a guide and healing. As for those who disbelieve, there is deafness in their ears, and they are blind to it. These will be called from a place far away."

        Salaam

Arabi means an Arab as well as one who is eloquent and makes clear as compared to Aajami which means cooked or not clear.

I agree with those words having a meaning just like i learned that the word Israel also means he who wrestles with God.

But in the end the Quran is written in Arabic. And that's my point.

It is because you say literally "he is Arabic" in Arabic and not Arab. You also say "it is Arabic" when referring to the language itself. The word says something or someone is Arabic, but it must come clear in the context. Arabic is more abstract than concrete as a language.

Same goes for Rabbi, not used in Quran to my knowledge, but it means roughly "being rabb-like"/Rabbic (developer-like) or simply put "teacher".

Definitely one has to understand. It is not easy in a jungle of disinformation, and it does not help if one is easily gullible and accepts information due to popularity.

I am not sure why the society clings to the idea that the native speakers are the best interpreters. I keep seeing this mainly for the Quran. I would consider this to be a form of fallacy because the contents written in other languages are not treated in this same way.

In fact, if you tell someone that they shouldn't interpret Shakespeare's play because they aren't native English speaker you will be called a racist. When it comes to Quran we need to break away from that whole "native speakers translate it best". Truth is that we need people from different backgrounds because the Book touches upon a vast number of topics which cannot be understood by just a few because each human is always limited by his environment.

And as for Quran (and other works) it also takes that the language is understood just as the author intended upon compilation.

I see grave weakness in how the Arabic is understood. Otherwise there would not be so many arguments as it would be crystal clear and Arabic is a very good language for statutory examples because it is so code-like. Unfortunately it does not come across as so simple, because it has been mixed up with the intentions of people with a different agenda who affected the functionality of the language over centuries.

Language perhaps changes (so called evolves) over time, but still you need to use the language before the evolution in order to interpret the writings properly. Arabic cannot change, but people have distorted it. New words for newly invented objects and other social phenomena should be descriptive based on existing words, with compounds and affixes, as it always has. It is how Arabic works. It cannot be cheated in pronunciation or writing since it is a minimalistic code language.

I honestly would stay away from any translation that does not show either transliteration or original Arabic script side by side of translations.

I agree we should always start with the arabic, transliteration and word for word.

However I disagree with the total abandonment of all the English translations available to date.
It's 2017 we can easily refer up to 50 English translations from various sites and study how each translator use various skills to get to the 'message' especially for controversial verses.
The point is not necessary only the linguistic skills of the translators but is critical is the philosophical, wisdom, discernment intelligence & capabilities of some of the translators.

An Arabic reader may read the verses in the Quran literally and parrot whatever are the words and phrases but without the necessary philosophical, wisdom, discernment intelligence & capabilities, s/he will not be able to interpret the words in concepts and ideas into its intended message intelligently.

We know even if we are very familiar with English, one can still failed miserably in understanding the proper meaning of texts in various fields of knowledge, e.g. in literature, advanced philosophy, spirituality, etc.

I note at times the English translators like Asad, Pickthall, and some others do make very good sense with their translations and the caution is the reader should not accept any translation blindly any way.

I believe some of the translators will take extra care in contrast to SOME Arabic readers who may take things for granted.

Unless you are able to look at each word and see how it is being translated you are not studying the Quran, you are merely allowing another person to force feed you their interpretation
