Emancipated women
-
Salam,
can someone explain what an emancipated woman is? I don't get 424. Is it women who were slaves? Or married before? Or believing women who lived with rejecters such as parents, and then married a believer only to become free=emancipated?
424
And the emancipated from the women?except those committed
to by your oath?is God?s decree over you. And it is permitted for
you to seek beyond this category that you employ your wealth, to
be emancipated, not for illicit sex. So, for those of them you find
pleasing, then you shall give them their dowries as an obligation;
and there is no sin upon you for what you agree on after the
obligation. God is Knowledgeable, Wise.Salam

maybe u need to ask Mariah Carey - she has that album called emancipation of mimi.
Emancipated definition, not constrained or restricted by custom, tradition, superstition, etc. a modern, emancipated woman.
Emancipation of minors is a legal mechanism by which a minor is freed from control by their parents or guardians, and the parents or guardians are freed from any and all responsibility toward the child.
From the above, 424 beginning with 'kitaba' means, if u have the wealth, u can use it to marry the emancipated women by giving them their dowries as an obligation, but what is ultimately given to the woman can be mutually agreed upon thus it may not be the usual sum of money, it can be anything as long as it is mutually agreeable. The verse also mean/say, U cannot use your wealth to approach these emancipated women for sex without commitment ie prostitution.

Muhsana is the woman that to whom legal capacity of consent for marriage or sex is ackknowledged. That is why in 24.4 it is spoken of those who acuse the "muhsanaat". Because if a woman is not acknowledged the capacity of consent then she cannot be accused of anything.
Also, in several ayas men are told to marry muhsineen, that is acknowledging first the woman's capacity of consent, that is not to marry them if they do not consent, and that is also why married women are considered muhsanaat, because they are acknowledged on marriage the capacity of consent.
