    salam and peace to all,

some non muslims claim that muhammad (pbuh) was not a prophet but he was a messenger only. they say this on the basis of
1 Muhammad (pbuh) didnt do any miracle but other prophets did.

2 he didnt talk to God directly.

they also says that he was just a messenger who's work is to post a message to people nothing else. but prophet has importance. they says only the seal of messenger is done not for prophet and many prophets came after muhammad (pbuh). i my opinion they are mixing saints and prophet so i wnt to knw
1 what is the difference between saints and prophet?
2 is there any reference about sealing of prophet ?
3 is their claim right that only coming of messenger is sealed not prophet's and prophet can come in future?

    thanks

      Salam,

I don't really know what a saint is, probably some human claiming divinity to themselves or prescribed divinity by other humans.

3340 Mohammed is not the father of any of your men, but he is the messenger of God and the seal of the prophets. And God is fully aware of all things.
Only prophets receive messages from God in the form of scriptures, books and so on.
472 And those who believe and do good works, and believe in what
was sent down to Mohammed, for it is the truth from their Lord,
He cancels for them their sins, and relieves their concern.

Messengers will continue to come to spread the message. Messengers can be humans or angels (in disguise as humans).
After Mohammed there are no more prophets. Their claim is incorrect.

      Salam

topics get difficult when we unable to grasp the real understandings of things...

now think carefully.. all of us..

by the verse of prophethood seal (khatam e nabowat) basically the ending of scripture through revelation..

its like a series... how we understand in movies

        first part (story continue)
        second part (story continue)

        untill last part (story finish)

there will b no more stories of this series...

God is talking about the series not about the actors of first and last series...

with this understanding , if anybody claim there is any scripture after quran on the planet of earth , that challanges the reader , scientists, predictors, language experts, historian and anybody who reads it ..
to produce a chapter like this... i ll b amazed

but from time to time people are failed in bringing alternate or a new messenger/prophet/nabi bring something which is out of flaw... i m not talking about imposters , because the mistakes of imposters can easily b checked by any one ..

as far i think the purpose of sending scripture in the series from noah to muhammad is finalised by God when he sends the quran.. so there is no more scriptures required as quran fullfills the loopholes of previous generations as well as coming generation...

after 1400 years i did not find that scripture is contradicting with time , after 1400 years my logic say it will be same...

instead of focusing on last prophet/messenger we need to focus on last message/scripture(revealed)

messenger/prophet of revealed scripture is invalid to think...

messenger of God in general terms continue to come.. like, postman is a messenger of God too he delivered a message to someone by the permission of lord...

inventor of radio waves is a messenger of God...

msn and this website is a messenger of God in gerneral terms... not in revealed scripture terms... hope you guys got it now..

          Salam,

So you mean only seal of prophets is done not messengers? As far as I know that rasool is the one who is given the scripture by Allah. And prophets came to call back astray people toward Allah and gave warnings to peoples. And when any prophet had received scripture he became messenger also. Bcz Allah sent scriptures to established new laws.

In our kalima that " Muhammad(pbuh) is the messenger of god" he mansion as a messenger only.

Non Muslims says he was not a prophet but a messenger.

            Salaam,

In hadith books you will also find a lot of times "Muhammad prophet (nabi) of Allah", any idea why this is wrong?

A prophet can be a messenger too. Say a prophet receives a scripture. When the prophet begins spreading this scripture, he also becomes a messenger. But not all prophets were messengers.

So a prophet can be a prophet and a messenger, or just a prophet.
A messenger can't be a prophet if he hasn't received scripture; this messenger only spreads the scripture.

As is seen in 427, Mohammed was sent down something (Quran), thus he's a prophet. In other verses it says he's a messenger, he was spreading the message. So Mohammed was both a prophet and a messenger.

As for your non muslim friends, they are probably saying that so they can reject that Quran is from God and Mohammed received it. Do they present any proof from Quran that he wasn't a prophet?

              Salam

2 they says if u call him prophet it will be against of ur first kalima that " there is no God but Allah , and muhammad (pbuh) is a messenger of Allah." here he mention as messenger only.

3 they also says that he didnt died natural death because he was a fake prophet. they r fools.

i aslo want to knw about the death of prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that is it true that he died by poison efffect?

The sectarian interpretation of Quran does not disclose anything about how Muhammed died.

The sectarian interpretation of Quran says Muhammed is the seal of prophets, i.e. it is believed he is the last prophet, and so he was a prophet according to that. He is also allegedly addressed as a messenger by the Arabic word Rasuul (although I interpret the word to mean something like instructor IN MY OPINION).

                  Be well

1- Many prophets didn't talk to God, directly. To my knowledge, only Moses spoke to God directly.
2- That kalima is not ours, it's sectarians' e.g sunnis, and the shias I believe have a different one which includes Ali.

631 When the hypocrites come to you they say ?We bear witness that
you are the messenger of God.? And God knows that you are His
messenger, and God bears witness that the hypocrites are liars.
                      318
God bears witness that there is no god except He, as do the angels,
and those with knowledge, He is standing with justice. There is
no god except He, the Noble, the Wise.

3- Why does it matter how a prophet dies? How he died is of no importance, you should concentrate on the message, and do not make distinction between any of the messengers.

                      2136
Say ?We believe in God and in what was sent down to us and
what was sent down to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and
Jacob, and the Patriarchs, and what was given to Moses and Jesus,
and what was given to the prophets from their Lord; we do not
make a distinction between any of them and to Him we submit.?

2 he didnt talk to God directly.

Talking to Allah directly is not a criteria for who is a prophet.

many prophets came after muhammad (pbuh).

A prophet speaks the word of Allah,
a saint can be virtually silent or not preach to the masses
but does the work of Allah.

What about GOD? Yet GOD does not do that, why?
If GOD did that, they would have been annihilated long ago. However,GOD leaves those who do not believe Him in their transgressions, blundering.
Brother, those who believe and lead a righteous life, their Lord guides them, by virtue of their belief.
GOD made us inheritors of the earth , to see how we will do.
Qoran says many will argue no matter what. Some will even say "Bring a Qoran* other than this, or change it!"
Say, "I cannot possibly change it on my own. I simply follow what is revealed to me.
The best thing to do brother is to learn/study it to better ourselves and improve our understanding of how to be redeemed.
                                GOD bless you.
                                Peace

1 what is the difference between saints and prophet?
2 is there any reference about sealing of prophet ?
3 is their claim right that only coming of messenger is sealed not prophet's and prophet can come in future?

                                    1. Saints never asked anybody to testify that they are saints... prophet asked everyone to testify that he's a prophet, otherwise they will be tormented for all eternity on their after life.
2,3 Doesn't matter.. one thing for sure God's revelation hasn't stopped.. as matter of fact it is actually accelerating with exponential rate....

It seems that they (the ones you are talking about) only believe and spread the hadiths which are negative about Mohammed.
And you believe only the hadiths which are positive about Mohammed.

You have trouble believing he married a 9 years old girl and he had many wives (both assumptions are within reach of what humans are capable of).
But you have no problem believing Mohammed did a heavenly trip and that some angel visited him in a cave (both assumptions are normally speaking out of reach for humans).
Why is according to you the hadith about the heavenly trip more truthful than the one where it says he had many wives or married a little kid?

Only the truth shuts peoples mouth.

                                          according to wiki

saint "Depending on the context and denomination, the term also retains its original Christian meaning, as any believer who is "in Christ" and in whom Christ dwells, whether in Heaven or on Earth. In Anglican, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Lutheran, and Oriental Orthodox doctrine, all of their faithful deceased in Heaven are considered to be saints, but some are considered worthy of greater honor or emulation; official ecclesiastical recognition, and consequently veneration, is given to some saints through the process of canonization in the Catholic Church or glorification in the Eastern Orthodox Church."

prophet "a prophet is an individual who has claimed to have been contacted by the supernatural or the divine, and to speak for them, serving as an intermediary with humanity, delivering this newfound knowledge from the supernatural source to other people. The message that the prophet conveys is called a prophecy"

2,3 Doesn't matter.. one thing for sure God's revelation hasn't stopped.. as matter of fact it is actually accelerating with exponential rate....

Source please with numbers where I can calculate an acceleration of revelations in an exponential rate, or stop spreading false hadiths.
