    But if you want to replace one wife with another and you have given one of them a great amount , do not take from it anything. Would you take it in injustice and manifest sin?

    is this verse saying its ok for a man to divorce a wife just so that he can marry another one? we hear all these hadiths about how a woman is cursed for asking a divorce but does this verse imply a husband can do serial monogamy? )

    perhaps im just overreading, as the verse implies protecting women from getting their dowries taken away but then the begining implies strangely that a husband can exchange a wife for the other? elektro giveup

      It is not giving permission for anything. Anybody can divorce and remarry, woman or man, but since it is men who must pay saduqa to the bride, they are warned that their whim to change they will have to stand up for it moneywise. That is, freedom does not comprise a licence to steal from their wives.
