    Salam,

    616
And when Jesus, son of Mary, said ?O children of Israel, I am a
messenger of God to you, affirming what is between my hands of
the Torah and bringing good news of a messenger to come after
me whose name will be ?most acclaimed.?? But when he showed
them the clear proofs, they said ?This is clearly magic.

I don't think the name is 'most acclaimed' in translation, rather that the name will be most acclaimed.

We know this messenger as Mohammed.

A simple search on the net shows that Mohammed is actually the most common name globally, thus most acclaimed. So this can mean that it's not a translation of a name, but a description, a prophecy.

The difference would be like this (the bold)

    616
And when Jesus, son of Mary, said ?O children of Israel, I am a
messenger of God to you, affirming what is between my hands of
the Torah and bringing good news of a messenger to come after
me whose name will be most acclaimed.? But when he showed
them the clear proofs, they said ?This is clearly magic.

    What do you think?

It's hard collecting data, so there may be errors that Mohammed is most common name.
The second thought is that it is the most acclaimed because majority proclaim Mohammed when they pray, when saying "shahada", when saying the name of those named Mohammed etc. So it can work either way, depends on how we define "acclaimed". Could work both ways.

    Salam

        Salam,

The name "Ahmed" that is mentioned in this verse is a bit of a mystery. It is either the proper name of the prophet, and "Mohammed" is the description - or "Ahmed" is the description...

          w salam ,

yeh its correct it can be be both ways
interestingly both names ended with same root meanings "hamad" the praise.

traditional stories tells us this name "ahmed" suggested by an angel to the mother of prophet upon his birth.

i have another idea sometimes people are known by their nick names more than original
so thats why both names are mention there in scripture..
          or
one of these names is titled to him after or just before prophethood ..?
