    Hi everyone )

I'm new to this forum. I have been looking for a place to discuss Islam with others. Ever since I started to read about Islam 3-4 years ago I have always been questioning things that did not make sense. I never accepted things that I did not find any support for in the Quran and after studying this further I found that hadiths simply cannot be from Allah. I have been on other websites discussing Islam, but it was not possible to have a different opinion without being attacked and called names. This seems like a different place, alhamdulillah ) I don't know anyone who is a Quran only Muslim, because I live in a small town with one mosque where all the Muslims are immigrants except me. They are very sweet, but it's not the place for discussions. I am also getting married to a Sunni Muslim, insha'allah. He listen to me, but I have to take it slow so not to destroy our relationship. I had a really difficult time when I realized I don't belive in hadiths as a reliable source. But I am thankful that I found out about this way of understanding Islam. I don't really have many I could discuss these things with. I hope to find someone here )

      Welcome marthe,

Regarding hadiths, the rong lies in having made out of many differentthings a corpus which is supposed to be authorittive.

There are hadiths which are pearls of wisdom, whether they are from the Prophet himself or from somebody else, or plainly wise words handed dowm from even older times, it does ot matter, what carries weight is their own merits. In a sense, those pearls of wisdom have been abused by bunchingthem together with many other accounts some of them abhorrent, to conform an authoritative corpus.

On the other hand, wise words impose on us by themselves, we do not need for tht an authoritative corpus. So finally the worng of hadith is that it has been made up so as to have a way of limiting and disqualify the qur'an.

That is what has to be undone. We must not give any worth to anything because it appears unde the cover of hadith. On the other hand we must not disdain anything that is included under that cover if it seems to us to have worth. but never, never, make anything outside the Qur'an authoritative.

      Salaam

              Peace Marthe.

Those who discuss with good manners even when others are rude to them are the peaceful ones.

It does not really matter what others say, you will know them by their "speech" and you forget and forgive the bad "apples".
Main thing is what we do and say ourselves.

                  Hi marthe!
Welcome to the forum. Even if you lived in a bigger city, you most likely would not know any other Quran only muslims. Even if there were some, how to find them? If someone asked, what's your religion, he would perhaps not like to listen to that whole long explanation about what a Quran only muslim is. Others can just say, I'm catholic, protestant or whatever ...

                    Hi,

When Quran mentions about "submission (to will of God)" at some verse, scholars(!) actually don't translate it to other languages correctly and keep its original form in Arabic. This makes people think that God dictates us to join some particular religion called "Islam" but actually not. Islam's main sources are hadiths, arabic traditions, lies of mindless clergies, and other fabricated things but Quran.

                    Peace.
