Any takes on the 100 lashes punishment?

100 lashes = dead?
What do you guys think?
Can't be so. Is there anyway to lash a person without causing physical, long lasting pain? Do you think it's suppose to be painful and scarring, is theverything way Saudi Arabia does it wrong?

TO my own understanding, even a blade of grass will suffice. However many are adamant that this must be done with a harsh leather whip! Ofcourse this is upto for the linguistics to confirm.
Although why choose a harsh when you can choose a lighter peace peace

What's the point of lashing with a blade of grass or similar? Wouldn't it just be like a joke?
I also wonder what the point of lashing with a whip is. Seems to me that its only purpose is to instill fear. Also, chances are it also creates bitterness, anger and feelings of revenge to the executioner and informers.

I think that it is wrong to derive from the first ayas of the sura 24, the light, that zina MUST be punished, or rather that zina must be found out. The whole theme in fact is roviding for the opposite, to revent that people look for acts of zina. And it is so focused by the very simpple reason that zina charges were made wholesale, almost always or always unfailingly against women.
The ayas ar enot ordering anybody to charge zina or to look for it, or to watch for it. Individually we all of us are required to keep away from it, but as far as criminl law is concerned, there is no need for anybody to point out zina in fact they are told to keep that kind of thing for themsleves. Would you like to eat the flesh of your brother, the Qur'an asks?
The whole exercise is directed precisely to what from ayas 11 to 26 make it very plain.
If people behave as the Qur'an tells us and courts behave as the Qur'an would have them too, no charge for zina would ever come to sentencing. The fact that there are those things is proof that the Qur'an is not followed but that what is followed is recisely those things that the Qur'an wanted to do away with.

The punishment is there, but you need 4 witnesses. When you cheat or fornicate you don't do it in front of 4 people, especially if you know that you will be whipped.
Your spouse can count as 4 people, and accuse you 4 times and swear to be truthful once. You can deny it 4 times and swear you're truthful once.
So as you see, it's impossible to carry out this punishment.
