      I don't have the impression that that is very much the Maryam of Qur'an. May be historically they are the same, perhaps, but the things said and narrated referring to Maryam in Qur'an and the Bible have not much in common except the the fact of Maryam being sister of Haroon.

      I think we should learn to keep Qur'an separate from Bible, Otherwise we find ourselves all the time being bound by stories which defy the content of the Qur'an and trying to defend the indefendible.

      In the Qur'an no marriage is attributed to Maryam and not only that but a great deal of the meaning and plight of Maryam rests on that fact, the fact that she had a child whose origin she did not explain and God told her to keep mum.

      Let the bible uphold whatever it upholds and make their own sense, but let us not import into Qur'an problems that the Qur'an itself does not pose.

      All what concerns the mother of 3isa in the Qr'an is clear. Of the rest we don't know what may be true or not or that the Miryam who rescued Musa from the water was the same as another Myryam who plays music or other events nor even whether conflicting events may have bothered anybody of those who held the bible. With the bible it is very easy to get lost in stories. The Qur'an is not into stories but into teaching through facts. And the teachings through the life of Maryam ar paramount, not mere anecdotes.

      As to the word Maryam, to me it looks absolutely like a proper Arabic word of the form m-a-r1-r2-a-r3, like maktab (library) and many, many others, which are very common. Root r-y-m which, amongst other things, is purity.

      Salaam

        As for her name, blessed is she and all which is connected to her, the root should be same as for the word Er-Room. I was thinking about Er-Room a lot and all what I've understood is that they can be only Armenians.

        Their capital Yerevan is the oldest town with written record. There's an interesting math about that year and the year when surah Er-Room was revealed (I'm not sure which but we can't make a huge mistake) If we calculate

        x= diff. foundation of Yerevan - revalation of surah Er-Room, then
        revalation of surah Er-Room + x

        we'll get a year which is now or in a few years. It can be Es-Sa'at, but Allah knows best.

        Yerevan was founded in 782 BC and revalation of the Qur'an was 610-633. Mid-point is 622.

        x= 782+622 = 1404
        622+1404 = 2026

        Er-Room is 30th surah and it can be revealed prior to 622. What is for sure is that the Qur'an was revealed from El-Fatiha to En-Nas, and when surah Et-Tewbe (9.) was revealed there was only 1 or 2 surah per year.

          Salaam huruf,

          Why her clan first addressed her by name then as " O sister Aaron" mentioning character of parents?

          Why not " O sister Moses" or " daughter Imran"?

          Likewise " O sons Israel" -- are they all his sons/children?

              Was Musa a.s. born? They mentioned her father + her mother.

                Or was Musa a.s. even there with them? You forgot that his people didn't know about him, he was rised by pharaoh... then he killed a person and left for many years.

                  Do you mean that she is not a sister of Haroon? Can you find in Qur'an any other person who is addressed as sister of somebody and is not his or her sister just to sound cute? So children of Israil of Adam of whatever but not sister of Adam or sister of Israil...

                  On the other hand, there is absolutely no doubt that she is daughter of the wife of 3imran. Was she the only child of the wife of 3imran and of 3imran? The Qur'an does not say. What are you getting at rejecting that she is a sister of Haroon? And why should she be called sister of Musa and not of Haroon. Again what are you getting at? Is anybody forbidden to call her name and then call her sister of somebody. She is being questioned as to her morals, so she is compared to the members of her family who apparently are quite decent, her parents and her brother. Nothing out of place. Like "where did you learn to be such a ..."

                  Her parents are not there and they are mentionned in the past. May be her closest relative alive was indeed Haroon and her parents were dead. Otherwise they might be there or at leas t e mentionned int he present.

                  Salaam

                    Do you mean that she is not a sister of Haroon?

                    peace, no in that context her folk descendants from prominent ancestor called her by that "title" e.g.

                    2936 and to Madyan brother theirs Shuaib so said O folk
                    5911 saying to brothers theirs the ones disregard they of from individuals the book

                    we know these are contemporaries ...

                    333 and family Imran
                    335 when said (f) woman Imran
                    336 named her Maryam
                    337 and nurture her Zakariyya
                    6612 and Maryam daughter Imran
                    196 inheritor mine and inherits from family Jacob (i.e. his ancestor)
                    197 O Zakariyya indeed we give good news you in boy name his Yahya

                    these cannot conclude unnamed father (same mother)
                    2248 from what left family Moses and family Aaron

                    unnamed sister
                    2040 sister your
                    2811 and said (f) to sister his follow him

                      Still do not get what you are getting at. Are you saying that musa an dHaroon are not sons of 3imraan.

                      You do not know that the people who are addressing Maryam do nean to say that she is sister of Haroon you suppose they do not mean it. But that is your suposition, you do not have any proof whatsoever that the do not mean it.

                      And calling contemporary comrades in faith or interests brothers is not surprising but calling a single person, addressing her sister of somebody of whom she is not a sister is not conceivable except that one wants the text to say what it does not say. What is the proof that she is nto sister of Haroon. And again do you mean to say that Musa and Haroon are not sons of 3imran?

                      Salaam

                            Haroon = maryum brother
                            Haroon = moses brother

                            some haroon's are not mention in quran.. nope

                            haroon = my teacher
                            haroon = my friend
                            haroon = amirs brother

                            sometimes i think why quran didnt mention all the names of all prophets/messengers?
                            now i understand its a blessing of God that he dnt want to confuse us more due to some sick interpretation and theories of people..

                            becoz if there were 2 or 3 or 5 moses mention at different locations then all the message get confused/mixed same like with two different (haroons)
