Peace all
a family member of mine has agreed to spend one hour a week talking about Islam and studying quran with me.
She believes in God but is not a muslim and is resistant to the idea of becoming one (mainly for cultural reasons to do with the way women are treated, hijab etc)
I want to use the opportunity to make a case of submitting to Allah but there are so many different ways in..... am having trouble deciding how best to proceed.
If any one has any suggestions, ideas or feedback I'd appreciate it. The bottom line is that imaan is in the hands of Allah - but I want to make a good effort to explain the God's system and inshallah help her accept God more fully into her life.

Each individual has a preferred method of learning, thus if I was in your situation, I would take the lead from her. In my experience, those outwith Islam usually have some main/burning questions with respect to Islam, such as treatment of women (especially if they themselves are a woman), so she may start off wishing to discuss this type of stuff.
General points you may want to discuss
basic definitions muslim = one who complies his/her will, in this case, to The God, i.e. monotheist, which she already is it seems. This leads to knowing you are accountable to The God, thus living a righteous life. This is the core of islam, no ifs or buts.
al quran does not care what you are called , it is about what you do
al quran discusses levels/ranks of attainment
there has always been one basic message to all people, hence similarities between other faiths.
all humans are born with a natural inclincation towards the right path , this can be seen from universal values present in all people in all countries.
humans = imperfect, thus followers imperfect
some examples to differentiate common/traditional practice and islam based on al quran suicide not allowed no exemptions under any circumstances are given. no compulsion in this obligation no death for apostasy . the word hijab is never used as an item of clothing.
so-called muslim countries actually go against al quran, preferring to stick to traditional/cultural practices (perfect example being no two so-called Muslim countries have the same law system)
majority of people do not verify what they believe in (this covers many subjects, even atheists, e.g. how many atheists have actually studied the big bang theory, or evolution according to Darwin? likewise it is a minority of Muslims have read al quran in a language they understand, same thing can be said of christians/jews etc.)
