      peace,

There are plenty of forum members who may be able to assist with your question. In any case, the common explanation is given here

      http//corpus.quran.com/wordmorphology.jsp?location=(14111)

Because 1. the verb precedes the subject, and 2. the subject is a broken plural.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

The subject of the verb is broken plural, and broken plural is grammatically feminine singular.

See the same word the Messengers

          7101; 970; 1012; 149, 10; 3099; 3525; 4022, 82; 646.

Yes here the subject is singular feminine. Queen ant.

peace, read context it's singular feminine speaking (not group) similar as 1172 ...

1172 qlat/said (f/s) O woe to me shall bear child and/while indeed I an elderly (f/s) and this husband mine shaykhan/elderly indeed this surely something bizarre

2718 until when came they of on valley l-namli/the ants (underground dwellers) qlat/said (f/s) namlatun/ant (f/s) O you l-namlu/the ants enters ye of dwelling place yours not crushed you suleiman and soldiers his and they not realizing
