    Peace to all,

The Arabic word used in Chapter 4 verse 25 and Chapter 5 verse 5 in the Quran doesn't necessarily means sexual intercourse. It is simply means To befriend, keep company, associate in secrecy or privacy, to converse/talk with. or is already mentioned in the verse which means fornication. Quran basically emphasizing that sexual intercourse before marriage and any act which leads to sexual intercourse is not allowed which explains the word Nushuz in Chapter 4 verse 34 and verse 128. God also forbid all shameful deeds whether open or secret (Chapter 7 verse 33). again not necessarily means fornication as some of the commentators describe but Muhammad Asad explains it well that it includes all shameful deeds and fornication is one of them which in my opinion is the last step in sexual advancement.

Those commentators or people who took as secret lovers or paramours or mistress etc in my opinion is wrong. This is my interpretation and you don't have to agree with me.

I agree. Since there has been a lot of stress put on segregation of sexes in certain currents of historical islam, it was taken for granted that any relation between the sexes, -in spite of other injonctions the Qur'an- would always have to be for marriage, or for sex, be it for good or for bad, en therefore this word, akhdhan, was turned into secret lovers where indeed it is friend, intimate friend or confident, which the aya does not say that it is forbidden but rather that if a man is interested ina woman sexually, he should not diguise it as friendship or confidence but that he should play straight and pay her ujur as is proper and request permission from herself and her family, and not, under the pretext of friendship, pursue other ends and ill use her.

        Salaam

Firstly please notice that this word is the second noun of possessive phrase. It has to be interpreted along with its first noun of construct. Secondly notice it is related to earlier verbal sentence .

          Meanings will be quite obvious.

And pay them their Wed-gifts and committed obligations in the well known manner as is paid to a women taken in the protective fold of Matrimonial Bond making her pearl of life-household; opposite the style and manner of payment to debauch-professional women who act for the occasional "outflow of water/satisfying sexual lust". And nor in the manner of payment as is made to such women who maintain secret intimate relationship acting as keeps-concubine.

This declared permissibility is subject to the condition When you have paid them their Wed-gifts and committed obligations in the well known manner of those who seek women for taking them in protective fold of Matrimonial Bond-Nikah rendering them a pearl of household. The permission is not in the manner of debauch men for sexual lust merely for flowing out the "water-orgasm". Nor permission is in the manner of those men who hold women as concubine or who self act as "concubine-mistress-debauch women".
