Problems with the site?... Post em here
-
Peace,
I just wanted to see if anyone else has problems accessing the forum and the main website. It seems every once a week or so, I cannot access this site either for a couple of hours or like yesterday, the whole day. I'm able to access other php forums and of course websites except free-minds.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Please post down time here, if you experience any.
Thanks )

Peace Elke,
Well, I tried other computers in the office, but it didnt work, just as I expected, coz we're connected to the same server. I don't have internet at home anymore, so I really can't compare or be sure what the problem is. It's funny how it's almost scheduled... 2 days or 1 day in a week I cant access free-minds, and I can get onto any website or forum without any problems. ?
Thanx for the response. )

I have also a problem accessing this website.
I've just discovered this thread now. All the time I was suspecting my internet provider to be the cause of this problem. At my work I had never problems accessing free-minds, but from my homes computer I get quite often the message, that the DNS can not be resolved or no route to host. So I suspected that my ISP had troubles with their routings, etc...

Salaam Layth/Sabo,
The person you may want to contact is Rice mail @ represent.co.nz
I've been sending him e-mails, and I think he does manage to sort the problem out somehow. )Still happened to me again yesterday, just managed to get back on now.
I have also a problem accessing this website.
If you don't mind, keep a record/log here if you notice you're unable to access for long periods of time.Rice gave me this advice one time
Delete your internet cache, refresh your page.
It didn't work for me, but check if it will work on your end when it happens. I just get "This page is unavailable" error, like as if I'm not connected. ?Glad to see it's not just me! twisted
Peace!

Peace,
Can you put a section where we can do "random talk" ...i.e. not Quran-related, but like random stuff that really should not cloud up the General Issues/Questions area because I think that's mostly for Islamic issues?

Salam Zenje,
It has nothing to do with the cache. Simply because I try to trace a route to free-minds.org and I don't find a route to it. If you don't understand what I am talking about
Click Windows Start Button, then choose run
In the dialogue box enter 'cmd' and click OK
then in the window that opens type
tracert www.free-minds.orgif you replace www.free-minds.org with any valid address it will shows you how the data packets travel from your PC until they reach the destination host. In the days where I can't access free-minds, there is simply no route to this host. I get the message
Unable to resolve target system name www.free-minds.orgI still have no idea, why. But since few days the ratio is much better
Best regards

peace be upon you Zein and Sabo,
I also had this problem a while ago. I found out it was a problem with my ISP (Wanadoo) and its DNS server. If your ISP has a forum for members, check if anyone else has also had this problem. I resolved it by switching to another ISP's DNS server (BT).
I have XP Professional, and this is how I did it Start, All Programs, Accessories, Communications, Network Connections, right click on your ISP connection, properties, networking tab, highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), properties, check 'use the following DNS server addresses', input 'preferred DNS server' and/or 'alternate DNS server'.
I chose BT's DNS server beceause its one of the biggest ISPs in the UK and thus it would most likely have a reliable/extensive databse. Perhaps if you find out the DNS server on the ISP where this problem never occurs for you and use that instead of your own ISP's DNS server.
Apparently, this is a known problem

Hope that helps.

Hello, this issue should be gone. The DNS for this domain name were on the same virtuall lan, so we had to splt them on totally independant Ip addresses dor ns1 and ns2 and updated the name servers for every domain on our servers.

Hi all,
Lately(many a time) this site seems to be very very slow. I guess others are experiencing this as well, coz i have noticed many double posts(which i am guessing is coz users might be clicking on 'submit' more than once as nothing appears to happen for a long time). it takes so much time for every page to load up.
Peace!

I used to have problems accessing this site but that's improved lately. However, since the introduction of this new format, I've stopped receiving notifications and alerts despite the necessary adjustments in the settings.
