Any difference b/w a Prophet and Messenger?
-
Peace
What about 1250?
1250 And the King said "Bring him to me." So when the messenger came to him, he said "Go back to your lord and ask him what was the matter regarding the women that cut their hands? My Lord is well aware of their scheming."
In this verse it is clearly the the word Rasul mean the messenger OF THE KING.
So in my opinion the word "Rasul" is not a special word for God's messengers. What do you think?

Peace,
The postman/mailman is also rasool/messenger
But all messengers are not at the same level and bring different type of messages
Idem for the word Rabb/Lord, we use it for the God and we can to use it for a women/rabbat or man/rabb which could the master of their housse ...
We cannot compare them in the same way than the messenger of the God and the messenger of a human..

Peace be upon you,
Yes, that was a good observation. Hopefully this wil break some of the ILLUSION of the "superheros" mentality and help us to understand OUR OWN potential.

Peace all.
I was reading Damon's article on the Messenger confilict thing.
He states that messenger will continiue to come until judgement day.If we compare his statement with 337 and 381
381 And God took a covenant from the prophets "For what I have given you of the Scripture and wisdom, then a messenger will come to you authenticating what is with you. You will believe in him and support him." He said "Do you testify, and agree to this burden?", they said "We testify." He said "Then bear witness, and I am with you bearing witness."
337 And when We took from the prophets their covenant. And from you, and from Noah, and Abraham, and Moses, and Jesus the son of Mary; We took from them a strong covenant.
From what i understand from 381

Nabi is the subset of rasul(messenger)and 337 shows that it is clear that Muhammad was in that covenant.
So it is clear that a messenger is going to come after Muhammad.
But 381 also shows that only one messenger will come after muhammad where the word rasul is singular. This conflictswith the article damon wrote. what do you guys think?

Peace Loli,
If we compare his statement with 337 and 381
381 And God took a covenant from the prophets "For what I have given you of the Scripture and wisdom, then a messenger will come to you authenticating what is with you. You will believe in him and support him." He said "Do you testify, and agree to this burden?", they said "We testify." He said "Then bear witness, and I am with you bearing witness."
337 And when We took from the prophets their covenant. And from you, and from Noah, and Abraham, and Moses, and Jesus the son of Mary; We took from them a strong covenant.
and 337 shows that it is clear that Muhammad was in that covenant.
So it is clear that a messenger is going to come after Muhammad.
We don't read in 381 like in 337 "And God took a covenant from the prophets and "from you" "For what I have given you of the Scripture and wisdom, then a messenger will come to you authenticating what is with you. You will believe in him and support him."
My question is does Mohammad is concerned by this command?
Mohammad didn't announce like Isa other messenger by their name after him.
I don't think that the convenant in 381 is the same covenant than in 337. The second covenant is probably linked to their mission.
About the covenant, there are several verses which could bring an additional information 3187, 57, 7169, 1320, 1325... -
Peace marie
We don't read in 381 like in 337 "And God took a covenant from the prophets and "from you" "For what I have given you of the Scripture and wisdom, then a messenger will come to you authenticating what is with you. You will believe in him and support him."
Are suggesting that 381 and 337 is a different covenant alltogether?
I thought that 337 clarifies 337 on who the prophets are.My question is does Mohammad is concerned by this command?
Mohammad didn't announce like Isa other messenger by their name after him.
You mean that "from you" means muslims or ppl who read the book? And not Muhammad? Is that right?
About the covenant, there are several verses which could bring an additional information 3187, 57, 7169, 1320, 1325...
Thanx marie for the infomation.

Peace loli,
My first understanding about 381 is wrong, "You will believe in him and support him.? concerns both the prophets and those who believe.
A. Shabir
The God made a Covenant with all the Prophets, and through them with their respective nations. that they would welcome each of the next Messengers in the process of Divine Revelations and support him. Allah said to the Prophets, ?I give you the Scripture and Wisdom. Afterward there would come a Messenger who would confirm the Truth in your Scripture. You shall believe in him and help him.? ..In the light of the Reading, Isa (Jesus) confirmed the Truth in the previous scripture by "attawrat and alinjeel", Muhammad did the same thing through this Reading.
I think only the God confirms His scriptures by His word through His messengers.
Let us wait and see if there would come a Messenger who would confirm the Truth in our scripture; the Reading.

Peace Saladin,
Great work! I?ve probably read 10 different understandings of this topic but this one is clicking for me. I still have the feeling like the expression that something is ?right on the tip of my tongue?. I think I?m still missing something and it seems to relate to the verbs ?naba? and ?rasala? being common terms and that the explanation of who they are, i.e., prophets and messengers is given within in the reading contextually.

Peace be upon you,
337 tells it all
"and from you" means YOU who is reading. We are destined to talk to the God, ALL OF US.
We are to be readers of teh universe(al kitaab). The Gods signs are in the horizons to within out nafs, lets get to reading.
