What kind of book is Qur'an?
The first job of a critical reader and particularly of a professional translator is to classify the book. What kind of a book is it that he is going to translate for publication?
What do you think what kind of a book is Qur'aan? The question is particularly for the consideration of those who have published the translation of Qur'aan. And what internal evidence is supporting one's classification?
-
I haven't yet published my translation, but I would define the Quran as the tome of knowledge, which is encrypted to avoid distortion of its original meaning, the sealed scroll, so to speak (Isaiah 2911-12)
The evidence is in its Semitic root-letters, which are not merely sounds but contain their own respective meanings. By applying the knowledge of those letters one can find definitions for words and expressions which the Quran uses.

Happy to learn you have attempted translation, but not yet published. It is understood that language of Qur'aan is Arabic which is a Semitic language. Have you classified the Book having read it?

One has to come to the Quran with a clean slate and let it explain it itself. Any pre-conceived concepts will distort the message. Majority does not allow the Quran to speak for itself hense following verse is there as a warning for us
25 30
And the messenger said for sure my people tied down this Quran.

One has to read any book with a clean state. What kind of a book is it is the first thing to know about and to classify a book. What is it is the question of thread.

What do you think what kind of a book is Qur'aan?
Poetry..
That's why the 'poetic' quality will be gone / eroded once it's translated..
The same as other poetic literature.. including (but not limited to) Psalms, orginally in Hebrew and supposed to be a hymn, yet the (original) musical composition is lost.. or Tao The Ching, originally composed in (ancient classical) Chinese.Majority does not allow the Quran to speak for itself
Majority of human does not understand Arabic (or Hebrew or Latin or Greek).
Thus the Quran cannot "speak" to the majority of them.. (so does Psalms, Tao The Ching etc..)Yet they do not miss a thing.
Because their Creator does.. as there's no language barrier for Him to 'speak' to any of them.. using any media and means.. -

What kind of book is Qur'an?
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said ?Whoever reads one letter from the Book of Allaah will earn one good (hasanah) thereby. One good deed is equal to ten good deeds the like of it. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Laam is a letter and Meem is a letter.??
Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2910; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 2327

Salam brother,
I think that the best part of the Qur'an is studying it, not counting the letters that you have read, because this is the Message from God which has been preserved, it is very important that we understand it. -

This is what Quraan claims itself to be
2185
The month of Ramadhan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So it is a book of guidance for mankind and has to be easy to understand by everyone seeking guidance from it.
The author of Quraan declares that it is easy to get advice from it.

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL
And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?Making this book anything else is making simple thing into a complicated one.

Experts and educationists suggest that the first rule in critical reading is that you must know what kind of a book is in your hand; and they say that we should know this as early in the process as possible, preferably before we begin to read. Many readers ignore titles because perhaps they do not think it important to classify the book they are about to read. However, the author of a book facilitates its reader to know the kind of book he is being given by assigning it a title. Obviously, a descriptive and illustrative title will be considered the best for a reader in facilitating him to immediately classify the book in hand.
The other tool to let the reader classify the book are the Epithets selected for the book.
Classification of the book also enables to determine whether it can be translated to near equivalence of the original text.
This point is discussed in the following link wherein your above quoted ayah is included
i) Title of the Book;

Sorry brother we are not dealing with a man written book which could be the subject of critics. We are essentially talking about Quraan revealed by our Creator. He knows how to communicate with His creation. All this classification of book etc could be done for a man made book but not for Quraan. Quraan is a book for guiding mankind and is easy for getting advice.

Sorry brother I do not have luxury of free time to read all content on your site. If I could I will God willing give my suggestion if athere are any.

2.1-5
Alif Lam Mim (1) That is the Book, wherein is no doubt, a guidance to the godfearing (2) who believe in the Unseen, and perform the prayer, and expend of that We have provided them; (3) who believe in what has been sent down to thee and what has been sent down before thee, and have faith in the Hereafter; (4) those are upon guidance from their Lord, those are the ones who prosper. (5)
So the Qur'an is the guidance wherein is no doubt.
That is the kind of book it is.
If we want guidance, there in the book is the guidance for any of those who respond to those mentionned int he ayas.
If it is for something else that we use it, I do not know whether anybody will get anything out of it, but may be will not get guidance. But the Qur'an does not claim that its purpose is something else, like guidance for making us rich or beautiful or popular.
Salaam

Is Grand Qur?n translatable?
Yes, because it is neither poetry, prognostication, and nor fiction.
When we research for the works on Qur?n we come across a question and discussion that whether or not it is translatable. It was naive to have raised this question if Qur?n had been read. It seems palaver after reading proclamations about Qur?n.

This Qur?n is an explicit elucidation for the peoples at large.

This (Grand Qur?n) is a delivered-transmitted conclusive proclamation for the Mankind. The purpose is that they might get warned-admonished-awakened by it.

its not a book of guidance but a book of warnings and old stories.
Firstly a book of guidance; guidance necessitates to give glad tidings for adhering to guidance and warnings about bad upshot otherwise; to warn for taking lesson and paying heed the Narratives of past people are also mentioned and that is the maximum part of the text.
