...But I want to wear hijab anyways?

Interesting.
So when Sheba says I have wrong myself she is actually referring to her thinking the floor was a pool; not her exposing her legs before a man.
So then it goes without saying that lengthening the garments does not have to reach down and cover the legs?
Thank you.

Queen of Sabaa says I have wronged myself because
1- She thought the floor was a pool and it turned out it was crystal. Whoops.
2- She exposed her hairy legs to a man.
3- She lived her whole life worshiping god knows who, doing god knows what.Hmmmm

Salam everyone .
I converted to Islam 2 years ago, followed the Sunni ways, and started to wear the headscarf I then took it off after 4 months of wearing when I stumbled upon Quran-alone websites and realized I did not find it to be prescribed in the Quran. At this point, I did not have any problems with wearing the hijab, but after some conversing with my husband, I became convinced that by continuing to wear it, I was showing a false image of Islam. At this point, I can see both sides -- I find myself convinced by both the evidences that it is and is not required, although I tend to find the evidences that it is not required
Also I struggle with the fear that if I wear it, I'm adding a restriction where Allah did not put one - but this situation seems much like the fact that I try to maintain a vegetarian/vegan diet, in which I restrict myself of meats that Allah did not restrict us from because I believe it might be better health-wise for me, even though I acknowledge that these meats are still lawful.
Peace bls381, You pretty much answered your own question

I understand that you want to belong to the community at large and wearing
the hijab helps you to fit in, so maybe you can find a compromise between the two.peace

Thank you all for your responses, I appreciate them. I've been praying about it for several months now, asking God to increase my desire to wear a scarf if it is good for me, or decrease my desire if it is best not to cover, and my desire has only gotten stronger. But how is one to determine whether a feeling is from oneself or from Allah? It's something I've been struggling with how to determine..

Listen not to those who take their names from pagans.
Rather hear this, if you asked Allah for a Sign then surely He responds to the supplication.
If you have received the Sign you prayed about, then act accordingly or if you are uncertain, then give charities, remain patient and ask for a distinct undeniable Sign. Then, when you receive it again do not entertain doubt and falter, but remain firm and glorify His Praises. -
Salam Sister!
Here is what references I could share from Al-Quran. Root meanings are also given for ready reference/convenience). Hope it would be helpful for you in order to make a decision after you check and verify for yourself
Hijab is a screen/curtain inside a woman's house (Ref 3353). Wives/ of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) were supposed to talk to outsiders/non-family males behind such screen - exceptions for them are given in 3355. Hijab was also practiced by Maryam (mother of Isa A.S). It is not compulsory for other /believing women, however.

For me, the dress can be fashionable according to one's society or culture. Because I think that means to do things according to the known and acceptable standards of one's immediate society.
= Ayn-Ra-Fa = he knew it, had cognition of it, to discern, became acquainted with it, perceiving a thing by reflection and by consideration of the effect, he requited, to acknowledge a part, manager/orderer/overseer, become submissive/tractable/pleasant, the making to know, fragrant, to inform oneself, learn/discover, seek/desire knowledge, benefaction/goodness, mane (of a horse) waves (of the sea), elevated place/portion, higher/highest, first/foremost, a question or questioning respecting a subject of information in order to know it, commonly received/known, to confess/acknowledge/indicate, high mountain, Mount Arafat.
The difference between arafa & alima is that the former refers to distinct and specific knowledge, while the latter is more general. Opposite to arafa is ankara (to deny) and opposite ot alima is jahila (to be ignorant).
al araf - the elevated place, high dignity, distinguished position, place of discernment or acknowledgement, highest or most elevated faculties of discernment or ma'rifah (knowledge of right and wrong).
ma'ruf - honourable, known, recognised, good, befitting, fairness, kindness, custom of society, usage.'arafaat (pl. of 'arafat, masculine 'araf, being a version of 'aarif, the active form of 'arafa and/or 'arfun, the informational noun of 'arafa) means 'familiarizations, approbations, recognitions.'
May Allah Bless all the truth seekers.

The key to elegant fall looks is to create fashionable mixes of different styles. Women's and Men's caps will be the finishing touch that will help make the outfit flawless. Universal in this respect, ultra-fashionable in 2021, caps with a comprehensive, soft visor. Stylists call them "hooligans" for their blatant resemblance to the models prevalent in men's fashion in the middle of the last century. Light but elegant carelessness inherent in the cut will give any ensemble intrigue and individuality. This season's fall hats like headwearhut.com look very stylish.
