I did not say mountains do not have layers. What I meant was that the photo you posted has been photo shopped i.e.digitally enhanced. The digitally enhanced pictures of rainbow mountains in California as well as in Peru were circulating on internet a while ago. Have a look at following links.

This feature renders the book ever living; never ever to be outdated. Grand Qur?n has described inbuilt test for verifying the validity and reliability of its contents time and again in the timeline

The purpose of this visual manifestation is that it might become self manifest for them that it (Qur?n) is Infallible Doctrine-Discourse of Reality-Profitability and substance of permanence.The visual observation of an earlier unseen fact will manifest a book written earlier in time as the Book of Facts which contains its verbal presentation. This will establish that the Book contains verbal statements of scientific facts and is not conjectural, hypothetical or presumptive in its contents. We will find that what has been observed, it was already verbally mirrored in Qur?n exactly as we later observed with eyes.

By the grace of Allah I have enough knowledge about Plate Tectonics because I am a geologist with specialization in Structural Geology. Formation of mountains is a part of this field. The geological research so far has never said that mountains were imported from space.
The science is still in a puzzle to know exactly about the Plates. What they are sure is that these are an item which came into existence much later when the Earth was already in place for more than a billion of years.
The visible phenomenon to human eye were the mountains. Qur'aan has informed that they were inserted and pegged in the Earth. It does not use word "creation" for them. Also about water it is stated it was brought into the Earth in measured quantity.
Science has already believed water came from outside the Earth.

The original fact is mentioned in Qur'aan. Original mountains photograph is given in the link earlier quoted. Qur'aan explained about the stripes of colour and varying hues. Scientists are still trying to find the reason and process. Qur'aan has already mentioned it was done by water.

Here you are totally wrong. Quran does not need science to prove it's Divine origin. Science is evolving with time. A theory made today could become false tomorrow. So it cannot be used to prove that Quran is divine.
Quran is a "BOOK OF GUIDANCE". It proves itself of divine origin by giving us a challenge. If we follow this guidance it guarantees us Jannah in this world as well as in the next life.
Quran was revealed for the mankind as a guidance and not exclusively for scholars. It gives guidance to every truth seeker. That serves the purpose of this Book.
All great books have a Thesis Statement. It is mandatory for the Author to give tangible evidence and valid arguments to prove his/His Thesis statement. A critical reader revers a book only after finding that the author has sufficiently explained and proved his thesis statement.
Please determine the Thesis statement and then study Qur'aan, it will become very revealing.
