Assalam Alaykum brother Wakas. There is this good article presented by brother Al-Khitab about ruku being kneeling https//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9605828.msg338671#msg338671 Just scroll down even further to find it. Thsnks!

Thanks for the link, however what al-kitab primarily provided was conjecture, not Quranic evidence. Also, he seemed to be comparing two different roots e.g. K3B in 595, 597, and RK3 (the one we are discussing, e.g. in 555), trying to make a link because they both have K3 in the root. This may have some merit (but requires further study).
From my studies it's not possible to conclude what RK3 means in Quran (in the sense one can say it definitely means X, and cannot mean anything else). That's why I asked how you came to such a conclusion.
From my studies, RK3 can mean bow/kneel (body-physical) or incline/humble (mindset, i.e. non-body-physical), bearing in mind overlap between meanings.

Assalam Alaykum brother wakas. Thanks for your insight! Anyways from your point of view what is actualy the meaning of ruku? Does it actualky mean bow or kneel? I am just really confuse. I know you said it is either however I just want to kniw what should I do during salat. Thanks!

Kenybanez...,
take it or leave it... Dont ask anyone in this world WHAT SHOULD I DO if you have quran and if you are able to read any language? Ask God that question. If you ask some what should i do, and if someone comes up with any answer, will you do that? Perceive self, approach God in things that you are confused or not aware... answers will flow..
Discuss or argue or do whatever you like for knowledge gathering... But dont do what others say...
I am not aware whether you take quran merely quran as source of guidance.. in case if you are, then trust me you wont find physical steps of salat involving ruku... as i said earlier ruku or sujud not a physical activity in quran..
All i found for salat is to stand call your Lord and applaud Him much during three times of the day....then you can finish it with humility or submission.. This is what i found in quran.... I am not afraid to do it... I have answer to God of what i did...
Take all ruku verses in quran and verses which follows and precedes ... research and come to conclusion and to what your heart says... that's deen...Note you or we can ask what should i or we do in matters other than quran...
God bless you -
peace,
I know you said it is either however I just want to kniw what should I do during salat. Thanks!
I am not aware of a verse in Quran wherein it explicitly states salat involves ruku. I am aware of an interpreted association, e.g. some cite 243 but the problem with this example is rather obvious, as they neglect the occurrence of "zakat", i.e. they claim this verse is evidence for ruku in salat but when the same reasoning is used to ask them "is ruku also in zakat?" they have no reply.
In any case, my view is simple, if one wishes to bow/kneel/prostrate during their timed salat then they can do that, that's between them and God, but that's different to claiming one MUST do these body-physical actions in the timed salat or claiming Quran says you MUST bow/kneel/etc. Appreciate the difference.
Similar was mentioned in my article on "sujud" here
http//mypercept.co.uk/articles/meaning-of-SuJuD-from-Quran.html
Please note, that is not to say body-physical acts are not allowed. A human being is composed of mind, body and spirit and often body-physical acts can serve to show respect, self-abasement and humility, used as a greeting, or focus our mind etc such as the practice of meditation, tai chi, yoga or kneeling when in supplication to God etc. It simply means that no credible argument for SJD=prostration and therefore prostration during upholding/establishing the salat can be made using The Quran.
Further, one must ask themselves what is God concerned with? What does Quran teach us is most important? Reading/understanding/applying God's guidance first and foremost and a distant second is whether one physically bows/kneels/prostrates in a ritual? I think so.
