Haram should be related with purification, Masjid(place of sujud/respect) Al Haram(purification), may be the qibla(focus) for us should be purification by doing Zakat or Sacrificing oneself with whatever means in the name of God. This is my understanding.

          Peace kaltun.
The way I understand it, haram always has a meaning of prohibition involved.
          Let me explain further
Al Masjid Al Haram-Al Muharram---- Sacred Masjid/place. The prohibition here is from anyone else except GOD Alone/ to claim that place or be idolised in that place or remembered...etc

Al Shar Al Haram----The months that contain some sort of prohibitions like fighting...etc

In the rest Haram or moharramun.. means prohibition.Often as a verb to prohibit or nuoun to clarify it is/was prohibited.

          GOD bless you.
          Peace.

                means Prohibited/Restricted
                means The Prohibited/Restricted
means ;So/Thus You Turn Away' (2nd person, sing.)
means 'You Turn Away' (2nd person, pl.)
means 'So/Thus You Turn Away' (2nd person, pl.)
                means 'Turned Away'

002177 It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces to the East and the West; but righteous is he who believeth in Allah and the Last Day and the angels and the Scripture and the prophets; and giveth wealth, for love of Him, to kinsfolk and to orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and to those who ask, and to set slaves free; and observeth proper worship and payeth the poor-due. And those who keep their treaty when they make one, and the patient in tribulation and adversity and time of stress. Such are they who are sincere. Such are the Allah-fearing.

May Allah bless and guide us all!

There is no inconsistency in Quran! The difference is in translation/interpretation/understanding of Quran.

                        Salam Kaltun!
007054 Lo! your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days, then mounted He the Throne. He covereth the night with the day, which is in haste to follow it, and hath made the sun and the moon and the stars subservient by His command. His verily is all creation and commandment. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!
010003 Lo! your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days, then He established Himself upon the Throne, directing all things. There is no intercessor (with Him) save after His permission. That is Allah, your Lord, so worship Him. Oh, will ye not remind?
013002 Allah it is Who raised up the heavens without visible supports, then mounted the Throne, and compelled the sun and the moon to be of service, each runneth unto an appointed term; He ordereth the course; He detaileth the revelations, that haply ye may be certain of the meeting with your Lord.
020005 The Beneficent One, Who is established on the Throne.
025059 Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six Days, then He mounted the Throne. The Beneficent! Ask anyone informed concerning Him!
032004 Allah it is Who created the heavens and the earth, and that which is between them, in six Days. Then He mounted the Throne. Ye have not, beside Him, a protecting friend or mediator. Will ye not then remember?
057004 He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days; then He mounted the Throne. He knoweth all that entereth the earth and all that emergeth therefrom and all that cometh down from the sky and all that ascendeth therein; and He is with you wheresoever ye may be. And Allah is Seer of what ye do.

                        Salam!

                            Peace brother kaltun
In my totality understanding there is no connection between haram and prohibition if the meaning of promotion is entirely forbid...
Best appropriate meaning is Restriction.... When the word spears with prohibition of eating or other matters... When prohibition is around there is always the necessity of Permission (halal)...
For example four restricted thing to eat in Quran... If it actually forbidden. Then there is no option of consuming it under any circumstances.... But they are prohibited.. So under compulsion it can be consumed so the restrictions are lifted and become permissible...
Same for masjid Al haram... Restricted sanctuary... Restricted with certain set of ethics... So it requires always to uphold the ethics when entering the restricted sanctuary... Not permissible with freedom of approach to do whatever they want...
But when halal (permitted) then no any restrictions... It's total freedom...
Forbidden is far from reality with haram...
We can say God has made Haram(restricted) taking another ilah with Allah... No... For that we should use the exact Arabic word of forbid... Once forbid under any circumstances it is not allowed...

thats how you guys guys should start.

                                As per Quraninc arabic
                                haram = (....)
                                (....) = prohibit.

i m trying to say did quran used any word for (prohibit)?

rest of the thing will be easy to handle after that.

confusion comes when trying to compare arabic word with english synonym word.

                                  peace brother,
its depend on the FORMS and selection of root.
this root is broader in meanings can be switch to mulitiple meanings depend on the topic.

lem me sumarise all possible synonyms used by the root (ha ra mim) at different occassions.

                                  forbidden/restricted/prohibit/illegal/unlawful/sacred as per my knowledge.

                                        6138 ( translators used this prohibit/restricted/sacred )

6138 They said by asserting that "These are livestock and crops that are restricted, and none shall eat from them except as we please." Even, livestock whose backs are forbidden, and livestock over which they do not mention God's name as invention against Him. He will recompense them for what they invented.

@ kaltun... I wonder my previous reply you got it or not... Coz lots of typo.... Such as "promotions and prohibition """ sorry..
For me Haram always Restriction.... If you get the meaning of restriction correctly but prohibit or forbid is totally different.... Haram suits restrict in my total ubdersting ..

                                          @ IK
I think you got both complicated.... The former should be forbidden or prohibited and the later should be restricted....
Simply saying hajar = forbid / prohibit,........ Haram = restrict...
Take the help of verses 2553 abd 2522 ...those are perfect choices..

Unless you not take me as personal you won't get it...
                                          God guide us...
