    Peace

I was just thinking about that today because I don't really know- one of the topics I've not delved into. All I know is, when I was sunni, I think my family used to buy an animal for Eid for qurbani or something like that...

On a side note, what is the meaning of this? To help the poor?

its a tricking to animals before ? sacrificing ? them.
they decorate the animal with ?henna? feed him well then poor animal become barbeque for celeberators.

its an old ritual present in all big nations/traditions called barbeque party.

      christanity lamb for god
muslim sacrifice for god ( goat, cows, camel) etc poor people sacrifice HEN lol
hindus sacrifice animals and in some cases humans too. called (balli)

one interesting thing in muslim tradition they only sacrifice MALE animal.(i dunt know whats the intake of science and nature in it coz lot of male animals are not suitable enough for pet and feed them without purpose, usually farmers had only two or three male animals and lot of females. they get rid of extra expence and labour. moreover lot of people related with business of farming for this special event they start preparing it from the start of year. thats how animals get valueable.people buy them at high prices.more than motorbyke lol.

everything even traditions serving a purpose to keep the planet running.

        peace imran

I did a bit of reading and I think the animal sacrifice ritual is real

'The animal offerings are among the rites decreed for you by God.' 2236

'Neither their meat, nor their blood reaches God. What reaches Him is your reverence.' 2237

According to the qur'an- islam site, it's done for helping the poor and needy...as far as I know, it doesn't have to be a male animal...

          peace sarah,

          the calculation i still remember,

All meat seperated in 3 sections

one for (ownself) one for (reletives) and one for (non-relatives + poor).

the skin of animal get picked by notorious memeber of family now he will gona sale it to leather garments.

look what is going to poor ?

becoz non relatives are also a part of our community inculding frds/colleages/neighbors etc.

its a tradition and its serving a purpose.
although i wana share something i never had that sacrificed meat in my whole life once i tried but that meat got starnge type of unique ?smell? . different than the meat we buy for grocery purpose. and i was not the only case lot of leople said that and in the end most of the meat go waste or possible can create disease.

people store meet at freezers for months.

I understand that sometimes there are difficulties with meat going off and therefore it starts to smell...

            But the Qur'an still says

'The animal offerings are among the rites decreed for you by God.' 2236

Although I've never slaughtered an animal before in my life, I don't know...I feel guilty because I feel it's my duty to either slaughter or buy meat and give it to whoever God wants me to give it to... I still need to read more about it hahaha, I'm still learning and researching it...

its always good to take guide from whatever medium availaible from the pages of history including religious/philosphical/archelogical finding by legends of time.

things/maps/people/books/ideas can guide u as well as misguide you.

your own conscience will tell you what person/book/chatacter inspired you and its you who will rate the work of that book/person and with the help of their ongoing reserach u can play a part.

at first philosphical approach was in height.
slowly slowly science put nail in the coffin of philosphical ideas of past.

sometimes cross checking things like religion vs science vs philospy give u lot to learn and lot to explore and find.

keep doing your research and learning thats best way to inquire anything.

and about 2236 its telling us importance of domestic animals and advice that if u eat them also share it with your brothers/poor/rich/needy/hungry/fat/slim etc as ler my understanding this verse never saying celeberate a ?special event? with millions of animals death as a blind tradition. but things depend on how we look at them.

example if i decide to feed all orphange house and from my 100 goats i slaughter one of the goat and make a curry and feed it to orphan its a good deed and also make u happy.also a kind of sala ch 107. thats what i m saying depend on how u observe things from ur perception.

RED i beleive you lol you dnt need to slaughter anyone.
its not a cup of tea for ladies, leave these type of works for gentleman to handle it

jedi thats the swords what a animal see before a night before their sacrifice as per traditional tales.

              God bless you

As in the case of the prevailing practice of scores of sacrificing animals during Hajj where most of the meat get wasted and gets consumed in excess. An example how religion of idolising things blinds us.

Sacrifice and offerings can be seen as an act of gratitude for what we get, sometimes with fear they continue the practice thinking God will bring bad luck if not following it, and also the social pressure.

God itself seen as sustainer of common goodness. Religious practices need to have a social cause, or else doing it will be against goodness

                  very TRUE.

thats the midset of traditional muslims in sub -continent.

instead of fearing from God people fear from society/hearsy.

thats why they stuck in their own mess.
example there are some stupids who borrow money for going HAJJ.
and rest of their lives they paid that money in installemts from their wage.

i sometimes laugh when i read the articles about location/origins of makkah.
if they read that topics they got heart attack of being tricked/scamed and they will say oh why we take credit.

it took me almost 6 years thinking thinking thinking whats the importance of makkah? and tales related with that location. its norm of people to associate things with holy places. what everyone knows nothing more than tales.

TALE 1 the ROCK thing according to muslims was a ROCK from heavens it was white and shiny like light of God but slowly slowly it get dark like jet black due to sins of people.

TALE 2 the THRONE of God is exactly at top of kabba up above seventh heaven.
billions of angels circling it same like down here in earth.
and once an angel complete circling his turn will never come in time space. thats much malaika he have in kingdom.

more tales like zamm zamm , safa marwa , devil stoning etc u can unlock a tale behind every thing.

same like people take term from quran for forcing their traditions in it like sala become namaz.

same way like safa marwa become what we learn from tradition and elder.

'The animal offerings are among the rites decreed for you by God.' 2236

There is no Arabic word for "offering" or "rites" in 2236

'Neither their meat, nor their blood reaches God. What reaches Him is your reverence.' 2237

Taqwa does not mean "reverence". It means to save yourself from trouble by following God's commands.

                    God bless you.
