    Hi there,

My name is Latifah and this is my story. (Don't fall asleep, keep your eyes open. shock )

I've been brought up muslim by my parents. I actually feel ashamed by not knowing the difference between a Shia and a Sunni! Am I a Shia or a Sunni?

However my parents always preached sentences from Hadith or the Quran. They sent me when I was a kid to the mosque for some Quran/Hadith-teachings of the imam. And from there on it went wrong.

I didn't obey, at first I did, but then I changed into a rebel. They scared the hell out of me (I was 8/9 at that time)! The imam and my parents told me that I would burn in hell if I didn't pray 5x a day. To make it even worse they described how the punishment would be. They said that God would punish me by letting me make it up to him by praying on a hot stone in hell, so my skin would stick to the stone, but God wouldn't have mercy on me and would let me suffer!

To make a long story short, I accepted the "fact" that I was a "bad" muslim and that God would punish me in Hell. I gave up my prayers, although I kept my faith in God. I felt very guilty!
Because of the guilt I went back to the salat (5x a day). But I couldn't keep it up. For a couple of years I kept struggling of keeping it up by going back to the salat and then breaking it off.
My longest period of salat were 1 or almost 2 months (?). Something like that.

I gave it all up and felt guilty. I kept believing that God was ruthless because I didn't obey him. I was a rebel. Did everything God forbid. Till to 2 or 3 years ago... I saw a website where people were discussing the fact that the Hadith must be rejected since it was made by people. I read that Christianity and Judaism were the same religions as Islam! etc etc

I was shocked! I wasn't allowed to think like that. Christians had their belief and Jews had also their own belief... like muslims! That was what not only my parents and the imams taught me, but my whole environment (consists of many muslims who also live by the Hadith) believed in!

I got curious and watched how people were discussing those things on that forum. I got more curious and began studying it myself and then this year in January I gave up all my bad habits (smoking, drinking etc.)!! I even confessed my secrets and all the wrongs I did to people. I wanted to start all over again with a clean slate. And I'm still working on it.

I always knew, deep in my heart, that God was righteous! Always! But was to scared and to rebellious (wanted to live how I PLEASED!) to accept islam and believed in myself (although I kept my faith in God).

That's my story how I came to GOD ALONE. I feel a big relief now and a weight is lifted off my shoulders. I only hope that God can forgive me for my past and give me the chance to start all over again.

    Peace and love.

    Latifah

P.S. Pardon my English. I'm not so good in English. )

Doesnt God promiss that thos ewho disobey his commands will live in Hell forever? Doesnt God say you must pray 5 times a day? Because the khalifites hold the same beliefs so what change did you actually went true? What kind of things you dont do anymore?

You seems to be like a brainwashed kid, just like you mentioned yourself. Instead of folliwing the qualified imams, you are following the imams on free-minds.org.

No praying, getting drunk everyday, wear a bikini, its all halal according to your imams. Just like the christians and the jews who have changed their religions.

Repent now, whill you still can.

I do not tolerate blatant lies. Thus, I shall demand evidence of these assertions.

Since you used the plural "imams", then provide for each assertion, more thn one person who said this.

From what I have read, very little to none of your posts are constructive. If you feel someone is wrong, disagree with evidence. If someone believes in al quran alone, thus bring evidence from al quran alone to prove your point. simple.

                        YOUR QUOTE
Doesn't God say you must pray 5 times a day?

Could you please quote the verses of the Quran in support of your claim?

Where is in the Quran the command to pray 5 times?

Where are in the Quran the NAMES of the THREE PRAYERS, the DHUHR, the ASR, and the MAGHRIB?

You mean to say that the Prophet took TWO names from the Quran (Fajr and Eisha) and invented the other THREE names of the Prayers of his own.

And if he had forged concerning us some discourses. 6944
And if the apostle were to invent any sayings in Our name 6944
And if he (Muhammad SAW) had forged a false saying concerning Us (Allah swt), 6944
And if he had invented false sayings concerning Us, 6944

And We should certainly then cut off the artery of his heart 6946
And then severed his life-vein. 6946
And then certainly should have cut off his life artery (Aorta), 6946
And then severed his life artery, 6946

After reading the above verse it is UNBELIEVABLE that the Prophet would ever invent anything of his own.

Ansar, my friend, there's no point flaming man, relax, if you think you are right, then follow that, we have no problem, but the base of faith is not in bangin on about a clear topic subjectively. Flex dude, check the following...

                                262
Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve

Then when it comes to a matter of idolatry etc., just take care and agree with God, whatever you think that is, I can't give better advice than that.

                                Chill Ansar.

                                        Ansar,

perhaps your God accepts baseless slander, we will not.

                                          Salaam Latifah,

                                          Welcome to the forum
About whether you are a sunna or a shia, I want to tell you this
If you were a shia, you would have known it from day one! You must be from a sunni family, that is why you don't know what exactly you were! But that doesn't matter now, right?
