    Peace,

254 And Moses said to his people "O my people, you have wronged yourselves by taking the calf, so repent to your Maker, and slay yourselves / ego; that is better for you with your Maker, so He would forgive you. He is the Forgiving, the Merciful."

I translate slay yourselves by slay your ego, the false self.

To die before dying; to slay the ego is like a little death before the death of the physical body.

Like all deaths, let the ego die is very difficult to accept and to do.

The ego misleads the right path, critic, judge, denigrate, always wants to be right, to persuade himself that he is doing well...etc

Why the ego behaves so because he is afraid of dying, he constantly struggles not to die, to let his false beliefs.

Slay our ego that is better for us.

    We are not the ego.

Freedom begins when we free ourselves from the ego.

Plato said "The first and greatest victory is to conquer yourself; to be conquered by yourself is of all things most shameful and vile."

And it is more about regaining control over your thoughts and actions and exercising your own will. These two elements are the fundamentals of being in the true sense of the word.

People are tricked into "feeling alive" instead of "being alive". Feeling alive is achieved by answering your impulses, constantly pleasing yourself, looking for self-fulfilling things everywhere, and this is what leads to wrong.

For example, when you try to bring someone down with your words, it is not because you want to bring them down but because doing so is self-fulfilling. It's pleasurable. It reinforces this feeling of being alive.

Therefore when Marcus Aurelius said "No one does wrong deliberately", he was correct. People do wrong because it appeared to them as the right thing. The right thing not in a logical sense, but the right thing in a sensational sense, the thing that will make them feel alive and bring them fulfillement. And it is often something easy to do, not difficult (for difficult things are painful) and something geared toward oneself and one's own tribe (basic human instinct)

Or GOD said that he is with us where ever we are.Becoming aware of this and putting GOD in your mind 24/7 will be the tool needed to fight the "ego".
Being GOD conscious cleans our consciousness.
No best friend can,be with you 24/7, even if they wanted to.
Reciprocate the love GOD gives and be best friends with GOD. Try your best to love GOD the most. Your ego will start to flee from you.

When you love GOD the most as your best friend, you will reject your ego.
With GOD as your best friend, your heart rejoices, your brain dances, your body and mind change places and paces. You will start to see more happy faces. Indeed rtrue happiness replaces in all cases.
Happiness is remembering GOD inside ourselves day and night and be aware of GOD s presence, love and mercy.
        GOD bless.
        Peace

Thank you very much for your excellent inputs.

Be aware to realize the presence of God in us, the heart in peace and love. We lose the connection with the presence of God when the ego takes control over our being.

The ego collapses, when one lets go.

          God bless
