Salaam, there's nothing to debate. In Arabic, nouns and adjectives can have different endings depending on their grammatical case nominative, accusative, or genitive.

The word Ishrun in the verse means ‘twenty at a time’.. like Quran teaches us ‘Mathzna’ = Two at a time, ‘Thulathza’ = three at a time, etc., and it is not two or three as a whole number but at a time emphasized with it..

Also 'Ishrun' means 'twice ten'.. not referring directly to the word Ishrain to mean 20..

'Ishrun' is not plural of 'Ashara'.... Ishrain is plural of Ashara directly..
Ishruun can mean twentieth as well..

So 865 is all about twenty at a time..

Note Always doubling principle is ending in 'Ayin' for example Ithnain, Shifathain it could be for anything doubling to any multiple quantity .. like if you want multiply 3 into thirty .. thalatha becomes thalaTHAIN.. to denote 10 times.. Araba becomes arabian and NOT arbaun..100 to 200 (mia becomes Miathain) alf becomes Alfain..even it is two times or ten times it is same..
