    Peace to you,

There are several controversial areas that traditional 'moderate' Islam is in apologetic mode for, such as the cutting off of limbs, the striking of spouses and the flogging of adulterers.

The controversy is entirely because of the incorrect understanding of the verses by the 'forefathers' or predecessors who formulated their own 'religions' based on their own interpretations of the source book, The Quran. It is too early for me to go into these topics presently, and some have been addressed already with suggestions that 'cutting' means to 'mark' a hand and not remove it for example. The one you raise about flogging adulterers continues to be problematic.

Rashad Khalifa explained it as being a 'symbolic' flogging, focussing on the public aspect of it to shame or cause embarrassment to those involved, but this is also criticised as being 'weak' or incorrect.

The truth is that one cannot legislate sexual morality. No set of laws or rules for morality can restrain people if they do not believe in them. Punishing them with 80 or 100 lashes will not stop them from becoming involved in these 'sexual sins'. We know this because of human nature. Those who continue to support the traditional view of flogging, state that because of the need for 4 witnesses that the punishment is rarely if ever provable and so it is simply a background deterrent that will hardly ever come into action.

This is not a satisfactory explanation in my opinion and we will The God willing be able to explicate my findings in this respect in due course. I am currently in the process of examining these things in the light of word analysis based on numerical evaluation and 242 that deals with this became a topic only over the past month, so it is all still in a very early stage of understanding.

Not necessarily. It depend on your current interpretation of Islam.

In 2016, I did engage online with non-Muslims and I tried to present them an alternative view of Islam. My Qur'anist view.

As it turned out, their problem with Islam transcend hadith teachings and bore into Qur'anic passages. For instance, I cited that the penalty for adultery is not stoning to death but flogging.

And that was it. They'll hear no more from me. I've modified my view a lot since then, but for a long time after that encounter, I resolved that the hate toward Islam extends to my version of the faith as well.

But the point is just to follow the Koran. Religion, first of all, performs the function of a parable, it is aimed at changing the worldview and views of a person for the better.

Here at our university https//iunajaf.edu.iq/en/ we have religious studies, and we mainly studied Islam and Christianity. My point is that although the Bible and the Koran have many different opinions, laws and positions, the general rules are the same. Bring love, don't kill, don't steal, and so on. Everywhere it is written in different words and confirmed by different stories. I don't like it when people hate some religion, because everyone has the right to choose what is closer to his heart, and there is no problem with that. Religion simply gives a person a direction of movement.

        Peace,

People are argumentative, it's what we do as humans. Do I care what others believe? No. I'm concerned with my own salvation, folks can believe what they want.
If a person doesn't have the intellectual ability to know truth from falsehood that's their problem. I'm not one to discuss if someone who died two thousand years ago
is coming back! Nor am I concerned with Islam that does not pertain to today. There is only one way and that is submission. Ayat 37 gives us the dividing line between commandments and what we "think" we know. How about concentrating on this.

Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but righteousness is one who believes in Allah , the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask , and for freeing slaves; establishes prayer and gives zakah; fulfill their promise when they promise; and are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.

        and

"Your Lord had decreed, that you worship none save Him, and (that you show) kindness to parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age with you, say not "Fie" unto them nor repulse them, but speak unto them a gracious word. And lower unto them the wing of submission through mercy, and say My Lord! Have mercy on them both, as they did care for me when I was young."

And many more instructions how to live a righteous life. Or you can argue about the unseen nope or what happened in the distant pass or your interpretation of
        science rotfl

        God bless peace

Peace reel, As you read the Quran you will notice the many struggles of believers througout history, you are on the side of those who were/are guided by Allah. Insha'Allah maybe one day those who are not on the path will become submitters, but that is between them and our lord.

            God Bless you

              Thanks bro handshake

Sorry, I was in a rush and accidently left the post incomplete. I’ll get it out now. Sometimes I feel it is best if majority of the people don’t find out the dark truth behind the mainstream Islam since it seems to cause severe disgust towards sectarians. A year ago, I came to know our docs and discussions opened many eyes but also led to heartache and rage. You see sectarians wronged plenty of people in the name of “God says so”. Imagine for a minute coming across the fact that it was a lie. Now the hate they had towards Islam jumps to sectarians suddenly considered more godless than any other groups and hence worthy of being oppressed.

Peace reel, Allah has permitted shaytayn to have his say. Thats parts of the challenge.

And Satan will say when the matter has been concluded, "Indeed, Allah had promised you the promise of truth. And I promised you, but I betrayed you. But I had no authority over you except that I invited you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; but blame yourselves. I cannot be called to your aid, nor can you be called to my aid. Indeed, I deny your association of me before.1 Indeed, for the wrongdoers is a painful punishment

O you who believe, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Whoever follows the footsteps of Satan, (should know that) he orders (one to commit) shameful acts and evil deeds. Had it not been for the grace of Allah upon you, and His mercy, not a single person from you would have ever attained purity. But Allah purifies whomsoever He wills. Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

Surely ShaiTān (Satan) is an enemy for you. So, take him as an enemy. He only invites his group (to falsehood) so that they become inmates of the blazing fire.

So you see shaytayn is not going to stand idly by and let us have peace. Shaytayn's goal is for us to show disobedience, to sow discord and to install evil leaders among us. His ultimate goal is for us to accompany him and his to the fire. He will also use devices that would include interpretations of Quran, the hadith and other literature.

The key for believers is to walk the path of righteousness.

                God bless you peace

                  Salam Sarah,

When people say they hate Islam, I don't feel they are talking about my religion.

The reason is simple my religion is peacemaking (please note Islam is not a meaningless label, it is an Arabic word which means peacemaking) and nobody will dispute that peacemaking is what God has made an obligation upon us.

You might want to check this

On top of that, when people say they hate Islam, I do feel they are talking about my previous religion (Sunni).

The reason is simple my previous religion has a lot of teachings that contradict what God revealed.

By the way, the word 'deen' has been mis-interpreted as "Religion" / "Belief System" / "Thing that you identify yourself with" / "Social Identity".

The word 'deen' actually means 'attitude' / 'opinion' towards something.

And the word 'islam' has been transformed to become a label of a religion.
It has become Islam (tm), a name for a specific social identity.

Some even went further to transform the word to become a political party.
Thus we can find people mentioning about "The Enemy Of Islam".

That's the reason why I usually mentioned it's full name "The Religion of Islam".
While the word islam actually and initially mean 'acceptance of the One Creator's will'.

Thus the attitude of islam has no correlation to any religion / identity, holy book, holy places, holy figure.
And that include Quran, Mecca, Hadith, Muhammad what have you...

Among the best expression of this attitude of islam (not The Religion of Islam ) can actually found in the Gospel, specifically in Jesus prayer.

"Let your will be done, on earth as it's in heaven"
                    -- Matthew 610

You can also find the expression of attitude of islam (not The Religion of Islam ) on many other ancient texts and also today's self help books.

Never assume anything unless you are certain. Suspicion is a bad trait.
If people say they hate Islam ,they must have their own reasons ,as long as it is not said to you specifically and directly ,why bother yourself with doubts and suspicions?
Suspicion, anger, doubts,biases,...are bad traits and anything that stirs the balance of a peaceful mind is an objection against submission-true Islam- to the creator.
A true Muslim will not be bothered about whatever it is said .If good is said they use from it and if bad is said they ignore it.
                      GOD bless.
                      Peace.
