Sister, this is what Qoran calls the "baptism of GOD"- Sibghata Allah-.
And who can baptise the mind better than GOD Alone?

Basically it is out with the old"egoistic person" and in with the nwe cleaner inner thoughts/mind.
    GOD bless you.
    Peace.

Your description above is similar to things described by Carl Jung on human psyche, are you familiar with his work?

I do not know him, I am familiar with the ideas of Krishnamurti, Eckart TOLLE and other thinkers.

      Specifically about "shadow work".
      Shadow Work Explained
      https//youtu.be/SZ90jN2R9n8

The things being described also correlated with concept described by Jesus (What goes around comes around, by the standard you judged others you will also be judged) and Lao Tse (Right action is natural and effortless ).

      Agree

When we are aware about the process of our ego identification, we will able to control our ego identification and not let our ego identification control us.

“Two people have been living in you all your life. One is the ego, garrulous, demanding, hysterical, calculating; the other is the hidden spiritual being, whose still voice of wisdom you have only rarely heard or attended to. ”
      ― Sogyal Rinpoche

it's just. The ego is constantly looking for solutions outside. The treasure is inside, look inwards, let yourself be guided.

Carl Jung's model of human psyche

Besides Carl Jung (who has past away) another recommended thinkers which has similar POV that I recommend is Sadhguru, a Yogi.

it's just. The ego is constantly looking for solutions outside. The treasure is inside, look inwards, let yourself be guided.

Because that's what the ego supposed to do.. the ego is also a 'treasure', when put into proper context, as it's a part of "self" and should not be resented or rejected.

With metaphor of computer, the ego is a 'subroutine', it works in continuous loop, within the lifetime of physical body. As the ego is attached to physical body and it's main concern is the physical body and any attached identities related to the physical body. It's goal is survival and security of the physical body and any attached / associated identities (in carl jung's lingo, Persona).

That's why the ideal situation is the self controlling the ego (but not rejecting the ego) and not the ego controlling the self.

            Peace,

            Thank you for sharing .

According my experience, nothing to control, just be, observe the cloud /thoughts /émotions that cross our inner sky, it ends up passing.
To control it is to resist, to strengthen it. It's a vicious circle.

consciousness, attention welcome everything without effort and frees us.

The ego is a cluster of thoughts, an illusion. He seeks to control creates imaginary problems.
when we operate in ego mode, we react, we lose our freedom to act in conscience.

The ego is the invisible companion (qareen) of the human being. He takes power over him.
When God frees us from his grip, we taste the freedom of submission to the one power of God.

I might say the consciousness is either nafs or ruh in the Qur'an, could be nafs since nafs involves the psyche/the self/the soul.

By (temporarily) disassociating the self from the ego, and then observe, acknowledge the ego as it is and as it supposed to be. One has 'controlled' the ego without forcing the ego to be something else that it was not.
This is what "action by inaction" or "doing without doing" mean as mentioned by Lao Tse.

The opposite is to associate the self AS the ego, totally immersed as the ego.
Not necessarily a 'bad' choice, the similitude is like being totally immersed in the video game or totally immersed in the role we play in a staged drama.
But staged drama or video game will always have "The End" part in it.

The 'rejected' or unacknowledged aspect of the ego will become the 'shadow' as depicted in the diagram and sometimes on certain events, the shadow might came forward. Shadow work as mentioned previously is trying to reconcile with those aspects within. These shadows are commonly refereed as the 'dark side' of your personality.

                More on this matter
                https//scottjeffrey.com/shadow-work/#What_is_the_Shadow

The ego is not the invisible 'companion', the ego is the visible entity, the visible identity, the thing which you refer to when you say "I".
                Albeit temporarily....
The 'temporariness' nature of the ego is what actually makes it restless.
It become obsessed with existence and survival.

The Self is however an eternal eternity and doesn't have similar obsession..

What I mean by awareness, attention, is simply, to observe, to be what is, without wanting to flee, escape or modify what one feels, the change takes place by itself.
To understand, try passive observation without choice.
Like the heart, we don't need to intervene to make it beat. Life is perfect and takes care of us to purify us from the disorder generated by thoughts / emotions. Order / virtue, right action takes place without effort.
Without this awareness, attention, connection to our inner space, we become the puppet of thoughts / emotions without any freedom of action. What is the cause of fatigue, exhaustion and emotional hell.
What is it to be under the influence of thought / emotion?
When we become the emotion anger, jealousy, hatred, fear ..., it takes control of our life, contracts the chest, oppresses, generates conflicts, wars, disorder..
A simple example of thought control over ourselves, wanting to be right at all costs, and wronging others.
Freedom begins when we know ourselves inside, we are aware, attentive to what is going through our interior space at every moment.
All comments are welcome, the point is not to be right or wrong, to make assumptions, but to speak from experience.

I agree that being aware of the true self is needed. Since we don't create truth, that true self is part of the universal truth. Getting closer to our true self serves the universal truth (for all intents and purposes this is the god). By definition getting closer to the true self means purifying ourselves from falsehood. Imagination is the only source of falsehood in the universe. By controlling our imagination (jinn) and making it submit to us as it was supposed to do initially, we both serve the universal truth (the god).

                  1. And I did not create the imagination and the humans except to serve me

                  Peace,

                  Ayman

                    Peace everyone,

                    Thanks for your inputs.

The ego is the identity with which we identify, everything that comes after the "I" composes the ego identification with the body, social, professional family situation, goods, children, thoughts.

We are both the light and the dark, hence the importance of being aware, accepting when we are big / small, honest / dishonest, truthful / liar, sincere / hypocritical, healthy / sick, at peace or not ... etc

No darkness can resist the light of consciousness.
When a state arises, there is no error, to be what is, to observe our inner state without excluding any light or darkness within us.
                    The light of consciousness acts.

                    Peace

917 And a soul / nafsin and what He made.
918 So He gave it its evil and good.

1529 "So when I evolve him, and blow from My Spirit / roohee in him, you shall yield to him."

                      Concretely, what is consciousness?

Everything that we perceive from the outside or inside world (our senses and thoughts) takes place in our field of consciousness.

Consciousness is like a screen where the film of our life takes place. The film ends, but the consciousness remains intact.

                        Peace everyone,

Thoughts / Guesses / conjectures / assumptions are from iblees / satan / jinn and also from human being.

                        726

In Jung's model, goods, children, thoughts, physical body, name is labeled as "Persona". A personification manifestation of the ego.

The ego can personify / identify / attach itself to anything. In human language it denote the changes from "I" to "My".

My name, My religion, My ethnicity, My body, My eyes, My hair. That's labeled as "Persona" in Jung's model.

Jafar is MY avatar and for you Houriya is MY avatar.

Now... let's extend the concept a bit...

When I give "Jafar" to you by giving you the password of Jafar on this forum.
Your ego will identify to both "Jafar" and "Houriya" as MY avatar.
Multiple personas of the same type (webforum avatar) identified by the ego as among it's persona.

Extend it a bit more... to one lever higher..

Now.. ponder how the self can actually be expanded to include another ego, thus the self will have multiple ego as well.
