Do you still feel a sense of community or unity with Sunni Muslims

It's a good question.
Sometimes yes sometime nofor instance sometimes I'll volunteer with my local masjid for food drives. Or there's a local soccer club associated with my masjid. It's things like that and of course sharing a masjid where I connect with them,
I have one good friend who is quran alone who I met at a masjid but we keep it on the DL.

I feel a sense of community and unity with a group of people I live with.
We share our street, our local shops ,our local village and our school and hospital .Our children learn together and play together.
We socialise around a barbecue ,a wedding, a funeral or a celebration of harvest or accomplishment .These people are diverse, at least 5 different religions including Judaism,Christianity, Traditional Islam,other and of course noon religious .
Some talk about their faiths in conversations some do not,but the criteria of the group is cooperation,sharing things for the common good and helping each other in all the common good of everyone.
I volunteer to help the children in maths and offer this help across the group.I have a lot of friends from all walks of life and religions who know my devotion to GOD Alone and converse with me on the subject. Sometimes I feel some internal conflict going on inside some and apprehension about debating /conversing on the subject of GOD and religion and I respect their situation and pray for me and them.
Let me ask a profound question
If someone is asking for help and you see them in distress would you check their religion before going to their help?Same with all other people with different religions or with no religions. We are all desperately asking for help to unravel our life and make it the best we can.
Feeling a sense of community with people who accept you as you are and are peaceful and caring is a good trait.
I unite with all good people in the world. They are my brothers and sisters. Who knows who will return to GOD eventuallyIf anyone sought safe passage/help with you, you shall grant him safe passage/help if you are able to.
They may even reflect and return to their Lord.

No. I don't feel a sense of community to them. I feel just a little sense of community with Qur'anists. Just a little. That's about it. To me the definitive Muslims are the Mutazilites, the extinct early Muslim denomination that blended Reason with Revelation. Those are whom I could feel a communal sense with.
No offense, but I feel the Muslim community in general today kind of sucks. The former generation of Muslims were more driven and ambitious, and will resent the current generation of Muslims.

From my point of view, I value people past their worldly ambitions and status. It's more about their heart and personality. I'd be amazed if I met a Qur'an only Muslim in person. A person who can see past all the falsehood and is one of those rare people. If they really follow the Qur'an alone, they would have the same kind of soul and heart. That's rare to find in a world where people seem to value status, looks, money and other worldly qualities above personality and spirituality.

"Return to God" here is in metaphorical sense, as they never leave God in the first place, as God is omnipresence.
And the word God here refers to The Infinite Source, The Infinite Creator and not some deities.
Even deities will 'return to God'.And when you want to be accepted as your are, then accept everyone (and everything) as they are, it's reciprocal because the one who is accepting and the one being accepted is actually the same person.

By "returning to GOD, I meant return to the straight path. We have a choice in this kind of return.
Some are trying their best, some have aims -good or bad- and some are taken by the flow of life.
Since we all die, this particular return to GOD is a must. We have no choice .

By returning to God, I meant returning to the state of infinity, to the state of unity, as that is what God is, that is what an infinity is, that is what unity is. God IS.
Unity with everything including "Sunnis Muslims" or any other label / identities / conception that one might come up with. All conception, identities and thus separation are virtual / illusion in nature.
