What do you think of people who only become friends or associate with people who have the same level of social status as them? For example, doctors only being friends with other doctors or lawyers. Teachers only being friends with other teachers. None of these people tend to want to be friends with someone with 'lower status' such as a cashier, janitor or salesperson. There are exceptions of course, such as if they have another quality like beauty, an impressive skill, knew each other since childhood or people who happen to not care about status (but it seems most do). They say you should not make friends with people who are not as educated as you are because you can learn nothing from them. If your friends are poor, you will become poor too because you will adopt their mindsets and habits. (This is not my personal opinion).
Do you think Quranically speaking, this is an acceptable attitude to have or not?

We all have our own "space",like we have our home.
When you let someone into your space and they let you into theirs you are friends.I welcome anyone to be my friend if they choose to.
Nobody can be forced to friendship.
Love GOD and love thy neighbor and see what happens.
Do not close your space to those who knock on your space door.
