I've been brewing over several questions related to the history of the muslim people after the prophet's lifetime. I'm not sure how to word them though.

One thing I'm wondering is if anyones ever attempted to construct a timeline of the earliest manuscripts in the 'post-muhammad' community. What is the earliest definitive manuscript that is together? Did people at that time even date their texts? I'm aware of a couple epigraphic mantertial but would like to learn more.

The best website I've found that some of you may be familiar with is https//www.islamic-awareness.org/ which has some great list for sure.

    hope all is well. peace.

      peace,

there was a re-structure in verse counts and style otherwise pretty much same except for some spelling i.e., numerous alifs added which the current in use today Cairo Quran canonized in 1924 and in mass print officially written by this guy which all the numerology infatuated are following.

earlies manuscripts are here including these via Carbon 14 dating
likewise, these manuscripts pre-date hafs and warsh by 150 years

it's the same manuscript as qāf above since verse starts where above ends

in common in earliest oldest manuscripts and scribe style can easily distinguish

      1. alifs were seldom written in the middle of words (no need and they stood out)
      2. initialed chapters e.g., 21 الم alif lam meem 201 طه ta ha (not counted separate)

        peace Noon,

Thanks for the reply. I should have specified I was thinking non quranic manuscripts.

Manuscripts that may reference Quranic concepts but more like the earliest records of the muslim community outside of the Quran. Maybe legal or even reverential.
