    Reformers while condemning evil in the society often get rude which make them loose positive impact.

    The phrase in the subject of the topic has occurred repeatedly for example 3104, 3110, 3114

    I believe this is a quality of a reformer advised by the Quran and a better translation of this phrase is "they enjoin reasonably while condemning evil".

    "reasonably, recognized way, acceptable way" are all common meanings of "لْمَعْرُوفِ"
    "while" is also a common meaning of "وَ"

    3159 also corelates with this translation
